Porten, god of Blood

Possibly the god most often seen as evil thanks to the almost taboo nature of blood, Porten values honour, loyalty, love, companionship, sacrifice and blood. The portent (as the followers of Porten call themselves) rarely gather together for purely religious reasons, but several communities are majority portent, as their practices single them out in other circles. The portent are deeply connected to their emotions, but in a much darker way than Kyrians. They don’t see joy as the ultimate goal, but love, friendship and honour.

Tenets of Faith

Porten demands the frequent spilling of blood in her name, whether it be lamb’s blood from an ornate flask, from a still twitching bull, or from a human in battle, volunteer, tribute, or sacrifice. Some assasins are drawn to porten.

The portent are good friends, once you can procure their trust, although they do not forgive betrayal and in that case the good see it as a personal mistake which they may repent for, the evil would likely hunt you down and cause serious damage, and the neutral would feel a deep sense of hurt and sadness. They are endlessly loyal to people of their choice, and would sacrifice anything for a friend. Anything less is false and sinful. Followers of Porten make blood pacts, and when they speak of their “family” they mean people who have sworn loyalty (similar to blood brothers). This may include but is not limited to their genetic family. In this way they believe in total social equality, and sneer at the concept of birth-right.
