Luscana
Luscana is a long, thin kingdom that stretches from the central pass of the Backbone Mountains all the way down to the southernmost tip of the continent. The north of the kingdom is mostly flat plains, since the Backbone Mountains provide a barrier for rain clouds. Further south, the climate gets warmer. The southern peninsula is covered in tropical forest, and is home to many exotic species.
Countless wars have been fought by Luscana against the kingdoms of Skjorgaard and Briadore. Luscana and Briadore share a bay, with both kingdoms fighting for control of it as this will give a monopoly on ship movements, including military and cargo fleets. Victory over Skjorgaard would mean securing one of the passes through the mountains, allowing them to move an army to attack Luscana's north-eastern border.
Despite the constant warring with its neighbours, the kingdom of Luscana is a fairly well-off kingdom. Their exports of tropical produce such as bananas and oranges are a luxury many courts are willing to pay big money for. They also have good relations with the jungle island of Chult, who's merchant princes provide good trade with them and Elinar. Luscanian wine merchants are some of the richest people in the kingdom, as their vineyards are famous across the continent.
Luscana have recently brokered a peace treaty with Skjorgaard. Soon after his coronation, Magnus set about ending the constant warring by marring princess Emmiline, the only daughter of King Roland. Tensions are still high between the kingdoms, but a peace has been observed since.

Luscana wants control of the entire bay in order to gain a foothold in the west, allowing them to trade, manage ship movements and, in times of war, move troops past the Backbone Mountains.
They also seek trade with anyone rich enough to buy their exotic goods.
