Zappa
Mere months after being hatched, in an unfortunate turn of events, Galen was separated from his bale of two brothers and seven sisters. For the next two days he searched the nearby shore and waters with no luck. When he was close to death a man, Joth, from the nearby town happened upon Galen and took him to Orton’s Orphanage. While Galen was thankful to be alive, it did not take long for him to find his mind wandering towards his family. At age three a high elf woman by the name of Edra Liadon was in town and Galen happened to run into her while she was at a local shop. Seeing as tortles are rare around this area, Edra's curiosity peaked. They spent most of the afternoon together and quickly formed a bond. Over the course of the next month, Edra would try to see Galen every day until one day he asked if he could go home with her. Edra, with joy in her heart at the thought, said yes without a moment’s hesitation. As it turns out, Edra lived in the Feywild in a settlement called Airedale so that was now home for Galen.
The years continued to pass in the settlement of Airedale as Galen, taking after Edra, studied the two major types of magic their clan was known for. It was long passed down that Airedale was known for the ability to work with lightning and time manipulation magics to speed things up. Their sister tribe in the nearby settlement of Istra studied the ability to work with ice and time manipulation magics to slow things down. These two clans worked together to maintain as much seclusion from others in the Feywild as possible and only occasionally had to deal with issues from the Feydark and the random passersby.
At the age of 12 years old Galen was introduced to Milo Xiloscient, a Halfling from Istra. For many years the leaders of Airedale and Istra have partnered members of the clans together to deepen bonds and allow for all members to learn more about themselves and others. Corrin Xiloscient, Zappa’s father, and second in command at Istra can be very demanding of people but he is also known for major innovations on the battlefield and in everyday life. Milo quickly gave Galen the nickname Zappa based on the first minor spell he created on his own, Zap.
At the age of 16 years old Zappa had a dream about a companion that was wanting to join him on his adventures. Upon waking he gathered the necessary materials from around the house and went to complete the ritual. At the completion of the ritual Rea was there. The little green Cactuar was there jumping up and down as excited as she could be. Zappa was not only excited to have a new friend and companion, but proud that he was able to perform a spell like this without any assistance. In the coming days, Zappa introduced Milo to Rea and told him about the dream he had the night before summoning her to his side. Milo thought he had heard something about this type of creature before, but he wasn’t sure and he could tell how excited Zappa was so he did not push the issue.
All of that leads to Zappa being transported to the Henge of Lost Souls. He hopes to find information that might be able to save his home and the people he so deeply cares for. He knows that he needs to make some money to be able to buy any items he might need, so he decides to use his gifts to help with this. He sets off to identify items for people at a good price. He gets a little bit of gold and covers his room at a tavern that isn’t in the best part of town, but he could afford a few nights. One day in the city, Galen is identifying a potion for a Dwarven woman when out of nowhere a large Goliath wearing dark robes roars, “Here he is!” and as soon as Galen can look up a massive boot hits him straight in the face and he is knocked unconscious. He wakes up to see a potion bottle smashed on the ground, all of the money he had made identifying items for people during his stay gone, and Edra’s necklace gone.
Now Galen needs to find this Goliath to get back the necklace and hopefully his money so he can try to get information on how to save his home.
