Session Twenty-four Report

General Summary

Before getting a full rest the party is ambushed by the white dragon Kari, large in size and young in age. The swooping breath attack hits multiple members of the party killing off a companion, Virion. Trudy and Azreal were able to convince Kari that we were with the dragon cultists that are in the area and we are working to take control of the tower that Musalgot is in control of. With some good roles, Kari was convinced to help with the battle after we finished a long rest. While resting, Fitz gets back from trying to find the mask Lady Alexis gave Aranarra to attack Musalgot. He was not able to find the mask, but noticed that Musalgot seemed to disappear after casting a spell.   The party gets back to the tower to find no one is there. Lady Alexis and Avo are getting gems from the throne. Zappa begins identifying all of the masks that were taken while Zed is attuning to his to find out what they do. Before long Kari and Trudy go upstairs, but give everyone stations to guard and tell Avo and Lady Alexis to stop taking gems from the throne. A slight misstep happens while taking another gem out of the throne and Trudy requests to be able to deal with it. Quickly she comes downstairs, casts shatter on the throne, and tells everyone to come up with a plan because we are running out of time. She then goes back upstairs and convinces Kari to go into the raven portal and explore there. Lady Alexis found out that the gnolls were able to travel to and from Highfell by using a wand that creates a staircase to the top. The gnolls were still in the throne room and one of them had the wand. With one of the masks being able to cast the teleport spell, the decision is made to have Guldrun teleport back to Thatchum with the people that were prisoners and tell the barron what was going on. Now the rest of the party made the decision to travel to the raven tower to try and catch up with Kari and Trudy.
Kari and Trudy went to the trap room near the portal and were able to find multiple secret passages that lead to a trap floor and a treasure room with one very large gem. Kari told Trudy to get the gem and then a storm elemental appeared and began attacking the pair. At this point the rest of the party get through the portal, hear the commotion and start heading that way. Lady Alexis, Avo, and Zappa head across the pit in the ground while Azreal stays on the other side. The group of three begin to deal with the elemental as Kari begins to retreat to safety, but not before grabbing the large gem. As soon as everyone is clear, Avo hits Kari with a fireball and she is attacked by Azreal too. With this Zappa uses his wand of cold to deal with the elemental and everyone else begins attacking Kari. Very quickly however, Kari knocks Azreal into the pit which does not seem to have a bottom but he manages to only fall about 30 feet. Lady Alexis, Avo, and Trudy start dealing with Kari while Azreal climbs up a little and Zappa casts the fly spell on him to allow for him to get back in the fight. The party manages to take Kari down, reclaim the large gem, and decide on how to try and get down from Highfell.
