Session Twenty-Eight Report
General Summary
The battle takes place on multiple fronts with two werewolves at the front with Avo and Lloyd, Zappa waiting for people on the second floor to split so he can get to Guldrun, and Zed with Quill in the kitchen. Things move forward when the werewolves are afraid for the moonblade that Lloyd wields, Quill is knocked out of his magical trance and a werewolf comes up from the basement covered in blood, and the one of the four drow that have Guldrun captive in a room say, “Tell us about your master or you will lose your other hand!” At that moment Zappa throws the door open and uses the wand to turn three of the drow into frozen statues while the other drow runs toward the front of the house where Avo and Lloyd are doing combat.
Lloyd and Avo take care of one of the werewolves and the drow that joined them before moving toward Zed Quill and the werewolf he was about in combat with. At this point Zappa frees Guldrun and tells him to go get help if he can, but stay safe first and foremost. A very large clatter starts coming from the third floor and Zappa hears a scream from around the corner on the second floor.
One of the werewolves downs Quill and runs out the back toward the second floor. Avo gets Quill back up and he gets food for Zed from a large magical goose that he was cooking. The cooked goose turns any attack made by the person that ate from it magical, which gets by the issue of non-magical attacks not hurting the werewolves. Lloyd gets one of the werewolves to lay down and surrender before heading up to the second floor.
Guldrun runs into his uncle along with three knights from the town at the front of the house and then makes way to the Tower of Urza to try and get help from a wizard. Zappa moves toward the scream on the second floor and is unsuccessful at luring the werewolf to attack him, so one of the caravan guards is murdered. Zappa then uses his fools mask to make the werewolf dance uncontrollably before hitting him with a frozen harpoon and leaving him to Lloyd. At this point the werewolf that surrendered got back up to start attacking Zed and Quill, before Zed and the knights finished him off with help from the magical meal.
Avo quickly dashed up the stairs and almost got to the third floor before hearing a noise in a small room by the stairs. Lloyd was able to finish off the weakened werewolf and told the two other captives to stay in place before making his way towards the third floor. Zed and the four knights start coming up to the third floor, when Zappa opens the door where Avo heard the noise to see a drow standing behind another captive with a dagger to his neck. The drow says, “Give us Lady Alexis and this will all be over.” Zappa responds with a frozen chromatic orb to the face and tells the guards coming up the stairs about the tied up prisoner. Avo gets to the library where the loud mechanical noise is coming from and sees a drow caster in there working on a ritual. The caster tries to say he is closing the portal, but Avo does not believe him and attacks. At this point Lady Alexis meets up with Quill and the wizard from Urza’s tower to have a quick bite to eat and make their way upstairs. The caster that Avo is fighting turns invisible and Zappa makes it to the top of the third floor to be greeted by a magically quicked Orman and Fifi. Both attack Zappa, before Fifi withdraws back into Zappa’s room and Lady Alexis, Zed, Lloyd and three of the knights make it to the top floor. Zappa, still enraged, goes straight for Fifi and uses the wand to hit her with a cone of cold, dropping the haste spell on Orman.
The group is able to take care of the drow caster and heavily wound Orman before another werewolf comes to support Fifi in her battle with Zappa and a mechanical creature comes out of the portal. Fifi tries to mind control Zappa, but fails and then Zappa maneuvers to hit Fifi and the werewolf with another cone of cold freezing Fifi into another statue before the wand evaporates. The party end Orman, the mechanical creature, and the werewolf in short order and are left with the portal still making a lot of noise as if another creature may be coming soon and a handful of rooms not checked.
