Session Thirteen Report

General Summary

The party finds themselves in another battle with 12 gnolls and the troll, Daniel, that almost killed multiple party members recently. They rapidly approached from the rear as the party was about 10-15 miles from Woodvale. It was discussed that setting a few quick traps and making it to town would be the better decision rather than fighting all 13 enemies. As the enemies broke into three groups and multiple traps were laid an insect-like monster burst from the ground to assault one of the groups of gnolls. Daniel pressed the attack to try and get Trudy and the prisoners that we helped escape, only to walk directly into the traps that were set. With the damage from the traps and multiple attacks from the party Daniel was no more and the gnolls that were still alive scattered.   The party makes it back to Woodvale and half of the prisoners are safe. Timber and the mayor embrace as old friends, both glad to see each other again. Arthur makes sure to inform some of the town guards and the mayor about the location the insect creatures attacked in hopes people would avoid that area. The mayor gives his thanks and signs over the deed to the estate in Thatchum and the party gets a night of rest in the safety of The Snoring Oak.   The following day sees the party get back to Thatchum to restock on supplies, see some old friends, check out their new house, and give some information about the gnolls. While this is going on, it was discovered that the murder that occurred in town recently was potentially solved but in a curious manner. The party splits up into three groups: one checking with the person in custody for the murder, one the location where the murder occurred, and one going to the inn. It was discovered that the boot print did not match and the supposed murder was very physically weak. A piece of vibrant yellow cloth was found at the scene of the crime and a book about teleporting from libraries was stolen. The group at the inn found out that Jogen had recently checked out of the room he had occupied since getting to Thatchum and we happened to book his room. In the room was a lot of bloody clothing that had been sitting for awhile. It is also discovered from the Men from White Castle that when they went to Highfell with Jogen, a library was involved with getting them there.   With all of the information they had learned the person in custody was set free, but told to stay in town. Then the party goes towards their new manor in town to find a couple of lights flickering that should not be. When they make their way to the section of the manor with an old library they see what looks to be a portal to an unknown location…
