Session Seventeen Report
General Summary
Azreal quickly makes a recovery and manages to get to the other side with treasures. With the use of a rope Zappa is also able to get across to start making sure the treasurers are okay to interact with. After identifying one of the items, there is a large clattering behind the other party members, Goobert and Avo, as they see four mummies appear ready for combat. Avo douses the mummies in oil in a coordinated attack with Guldrun and sets the mummies on fire, before retreating across the rope. Goobert tries to make it across, but is instead knocked unconscious from two attacks from the mummies. The battle is wrapped up after the mummies jump across the 10 foot gap but are quickly finished off from a series of smites and fire. Goobert is stabilized and is given a potion of healing, but it does not seem to take. Although he is still alive, his form seems to have an ashy gray look and feel to it and Goobert is not looking good at all. Soon after the treasures are taken and the decision is made to try to get back to a town and get some healing for Goobert. A crossroads is reached when the discussion about going back into the library and the mysterious nature of things shifting there or trying a different path. It is suggested that Rea, Zappa’s familiar, tries the portal that had been discovered.
Rea makes it past and is in an unknown location with multiple dog sized bats asleep in the room. The decision is made that the portal is needed to hopefully let everyone get a full night of sleep before trying to go back into the library. When the party decides to go into the portal the bats are alerted and begin attacking. The bats do not have much of a constitution, but with ten of them attacking and getting backed up by a salt pudding, the party is careful to take care of the issue before things get out of hand. When the battle concludes a nearby door is checked and multiple statues with potential religious contexts are found. While this room is discovered Azreal climbs a wall to get a view outside to see a land that none of us have seen with mountains, salt, forest, and a lake in the distance. The party reconvene next to the door and make a plan to climb down about 30 feet into the forest and get a full night of rest before trying to brave the library and make it back to Thatchum. To their dismay, a distinctive noise breaks the silence as another battle is on the docket for the party before their long rest.
