Session Nineteen Report

General Summary

The conflict in the library of the party's newly acquired home begins with Zappa casting slow on the three well trained fighters and a Drow named Rizdon, while Guldrun asks his uncle, the captain of the local guard, why he has brought these people here. He quickly sees the error of his ways and moves to attack Rizdon, but is cut down with three quick slashes. Most of the party rush in the room to help out their allies even though there is a prevailing thought among multiple people to go back into the library. Avo casts burning hands towards Rizdon which does some damage, but sets part of the room on fire. When multiple party members are in the room a shatter spell hits our team and Trudy, causing her shell to crack open, leaving her motionless in the remains. Arthur rushes in the room to heal Trudy, and tries to get her out of harm's way. To get a leg up in the situation, Azreal starts to focus on the drow caster floating on outside the window by latching on a grappling hook and pulling them towards the window. While that is going on Zappa stuns Rizdon preventing him from moving and Goobert uses his wand of ice wall to deal some damage to the enemies, remove them from the space, and buy the party a little time. With the realization that things might not be going their way with some of the people from their past coming back into the picture, both Lady Alexis and Avo have trouble in combat. At this point with the ice wall up the floating caster throws a fireball into the room catching most of the party for a lot of damage downing Arthur. Azreal and Zed are able to take care of the caster. Goobert heals Arthur and gets ready to cast another ice wall if needed. The fighters are taken care of as Rizdon breaks down an ice wall to get back towards the group. In a similar move, Zappa stuns him again and another ice wall hits him again dealing more damage and creating cover for the party. Avo gets back in the zone and along with Azreal they manage to take out Rizdon. When all of the enemies on this floor and above have been taken care of, footsteps come from down below.   Appearing is a beautiful female caster named Fifi and a werewolf/beastman bounty hunter named Orman asking for Lady Alexis to come willingly or for one of us to help them get her back. The party declines and stands ready to fight another battle even though they are not in the best condition. Fifi states that they will wait for a later day even though Orman wants to get the job done now. The two leave the manor as everyone is brought back up and Arthur demands that the captain of the guard gets this cleaned up and makes sure that the barron knows we are still doing what is best for the town. He leaves to get guards to post at the perimeter of the estate so the party can get a good night of sleep. The party goes to pick different rooms and try to recuperate as Kas cut through Zappa’s room to go and be on patrol.   In the morning, Zappa goes to Lady Alexis’s room to try and talk about the previous day's events and make sure she knows that he has been grateful to have her along for the adventure so far. When everyone wakes Arnarra, the high elf sworn to protect the prince, asks if the party plans on going back to Highfell because she has to try and save him at any cost. To try and meet in the middle, in hopes of not being killed themselves, the party agrees they will go first thing tomorrow. That will give them a day to recover, stock up on items, and hopefully information before they try to save the hostages from the gnolls.
