Healall

Ash for to cure a body of cold,   Tarragon and rose to make its flavour strong.   Redwort to banish the cough of a child,   Honey and salt to turn bitter to mild.   Sprinkle the flower of Tharren's hand,   Drink it all up though it may taste bland.   Wait thirty hours, no more, no less,   Then you shall be cured, if you are blessed.

Significance

Healall is the most widely used herbal medicine in Mythia, and can be found in nearly all apothecaries.  It is the most generically applicable medicine that is not a product of spellwriting.

Raw materials & Components
Healall has various recipes, depending on the region in which it is being created and what desired superficial properties it has.  The poem given above is an early recipe for healall, making use of various local herbs and substances.  Although most of these are interchangeable, there are two things that must be present in healall for it to have its desired effectiveness.  First, healall must always contain the flower of Tharren's hand, a plant that is found all over Mythia.  Secondly, it cannot only contain healall.  Naturalists who have studied Tharren's hand have found that it interacts with any other plant life that it comes into contact with, causing phenomena such as heat shimmer, spontaneous water release, and sudden flowering.  It's surmised that this combination of the flower with other plants is responsible for healall's curative properties.   Secondary ingredients are typically chosen due to a mix of local superstition, desired taste, and availability.  Batches of healall thus vary widely in taste, appearance, and viscosity.
Tools
Healall is typically created by grinding the dry ingredients together in a mortar and pestle, until a fine powder is produced.  If the particular brew contains liquid, this is added after grinding the dry ingredients into a powder, and often heated as it is mixed.
