The Feast of Ages

Today, we commemorate the age of the immortals, when gods walked among us, and the world was still young. Before darkness spread across the continents, and sickness was unknown. Before suffering and pain, before nightmares and fearful things in the dark. Return with me to a time before time, where heroes of legend rise and gods were not distant. Return with me; to the Age of the Gods!

  • History

The feast of ages commemorates the Age of Gods, when mortals and immortals walked the world side by side. The tradition began shortly after the Rending, when people needed a reason to celebrate and look back to the good times. At first, the feast was a yearly occurrence, but was moved to once every five years after a while in order to conserve resources. The tradition became abandoned during the Epoch of Peril, but afterwards it was revived and now occurs once every ten years, allowing for time to save up resources.

    Execution

On the morning of the feast special silver bells are rung, calling all the members of the community out of their homes. The streets are decorated with flowers and magical lanterns, and players dressed as characters from legend roam the streets, offering flower crowns and sweets to children. As the citizens approach the feast area, the grown becomes strewn with flowers, and soft grass sward is laid down for all to walk barefoot on. Feasting is begun and lasts throughout the day, with performers on a bare area of grass re-enacting scenes from legend throughout the day. The festivities last well into the night, with bonfires and magical lights floating above the crowd. Magical Sparklers are handed out to children and young adults, and fireworks are shot into the sky. Finally at midnight, the silver bells are rung again, and any festival goers still awake walk back to their homes for a much needed rest.
