LE: Session 1

General Summary

The journey begins in the flying flounder, the second generation in a new series of sail-less vessels. Commanded by Captain Ulrik (The Stalwart).   It was the calm season of Brisq and the sailors gave their thanks to the Gods of the sea. It was noon, the sun had bore itself down unto the earth, but in the realm of the Fey Marsh, the sun does not burn, it eases the spirit.   Within the vessel were a number of characters, adventurers and mercenaries, some less experienced than others. Those that could bare the stifled smell of sweat and flatulance of the pigkin stayed within the lower deck. The other sea farers - along with the crew - stayed above deck.   A lowly mage kept to the innermost corner bunk, taking great pains to keep to himself out of sight and out of mind. He was the first to notice the commotion above deck as they passed into the waters of the Logos Isle, he barely caught the sound of panic and clashing metal above-deck over the loud banter of the rowdy bunch that accompanied him.   Concerned, he went above deck to investigate. His gaze met Large fishlike creatures that seemed to have boarded the ship. Humanoid in shape, sharp fangs and claws with two crew members laying perfectly still before them. These were unlike the fish-kin who had humanoid torsos and fins for tails, these were bipedal monstrosities.   With the doors to the top deck now open, the noise easily reached the lower deck. A lowly ranger, warrior and paladin were already making their way up, hastened by the commotion outside.   Upon seeing the horrid sight, the four leapt into battle, thankfully, they had decided to keep their items in the storage container below, but their weapons in hand for the journey. The warrior tried to get between the sailors and the monsters but she was too slow. The beasts had cut through the last remaining crewmen who now laid dead before her feet.   The cleric, with his trusty crossbow, provided suppressing fire as the paladin blocked the enemy path, maiming the creatures foolish enough to meet his blade. The warrior, thirsty to avenge the fallen, stood fast in the face of the monsters.   Between them, the warrior and paladin pushed back four of the monsters, pushing back 2 enemies each. The Tiefling ranger used his inherited demonic power to send the beasts into a wild panic, whilst the cleric took pot shots at them, piercing one of the beasts in the eye with a fortuitous crossbow bolt and the Paladin split another open.   The warrior, in a mad fury, drew their axe down on one of their shoulders, almost cleaving its shoulder clean off. As the beasts tried to flee, one jumped overboard; their blood drawing sharks to devour them. The other was split in two by the paladin who desperately gave chase, almost falling on his sword and splitting the creature against the side of the boat.   It was a bloody mess of a battle. Amidst the dying sounds of battle, the rocking of the boat and the waves of the ocean became more prominent, but it wasn't over.   More sounds of battle could be heard from up in the cabins quarters… Fatigued from their recent battle, covered in blood and sweat. The adventurers look at one another, some with exhilaration, others with exasperation...
