History

Humble Beginnings Maradeen was originally a small cluster of families, by and by, through the light of Feyd, they prospered; prosperity is often met with growth, and grow they did. Three families make up the core of Maradeen, the Gondael’s, the Freyalds, and the Mortimaer’s. Gondael’s, human farmers, were the first to settle in the area’s near where Maradeen proper sits today. Soon, the Freyald’s and Mortimaer’s took residence and together they all looked after one another, carving out a nice area to hunt and grow. The day destiny had in store for the three families, was the day that a Feyd priest made his way into their midst. A man who had nothing more than the clothes on his back, and a message that Feyd was a true goddess who offered shelter to those of her flock. Marcus Gondael had at the time been searching for an existence beyond his present standing, and this was just the thing for him.   “Praise be to Feyd” He said with a smirk, “My name is Marcus, and you my werey friend?” The priest responded “I am no one, but that which has been given to me by our great Lord. You may call me Patrick if you must.”   And with that, Marcus took this priest into his home and learned all he could about Feyd and her light. As the years went on, Marcus began converting the small village, and with it, opened their originally guarded home to any and all who sought a home. This was not too much to the liking of the Freyalds, who believed that their small home should stay as such. Religion or not, the more attention you attract, the more trouble you gain. But by the time they decided to speak out against it, it was too late. Feyd’s light is a powerful thing, and everyone it touches is warmed. She is the goddess of the sun after all, and who can deny it’s light?   Patrick, eventually suggested that they relocate to a nearby hill, one that was usually used for scouting the plains, as a new center of their village, which had grown quite extensively in the few years that had followed since destiny’s fateful day. Being the most devout, and most assuredly bringing the most to find safety in Feyd’s light, the hill and town were officially christened Maradeen. That was nearly 1000 years ago, today, we find Maradeen as a mighty bastion of light and safety. Within the 3-tier city, each guarded by a more impressive wall than the last, houses families of all shapes and walks. The center, is home to the royal families and the cathedral. Beyond that lies the common people’s homes, and the most outer ring is the merchant district.
