A ripple. It startled me as it was so close. I couldn't fathom what would be this close to shore. Then it hit me. Literally. The giant beast leapt out of the water and ran at me angrily. I was not expecting that. I only just escaped.

Izugarria lake - a stunning expanse of unpolluted potable freshwater. Nothing is disturbed. Just the fish and the kelp. A serene place of majesty and beauty.

Geography

Izugarria Lake is an enormous lake in central Koboldia. It is a freshwater lake and is only connected to the sea via elf-made canals. At places, it is over 1500 metres deep, rivalling lake Baikal in Russia. It is 114km long and 58km wide and has an average depth of 800m. It holds approximately five and a quarter quadrillion (million billion) litres. It is stunningly beautiful and has is surround by amazing hills and forests of deciduous trees. The immense body of water stretches as far as the eye can see and those sailing across it are surrounded by ocean for most of their journey.

Fauna & Flora

It contains the most diverse variety of life in Mundomirum and is home to many a creature. Its most famous is the Kelp-Serpent, an enormous sea snake that is made of the large kelp plants found in the lake. It is also a habitat for lots of fish and marine mammals such as the lake dwelling sea-elf or mermaid. It also has many plants such as kelp as mentioned above and seaweed as well as the unusual, rare water tree, a tree entirely submerged underwater. Its colourful freshwater flowers brighten the repetitive colour palette of the inland sea.

Natural Resources

Those permitted may fish for the huge shoals of fish and gather the delicious delicacy, kelp which is abundant. Beneath it is also rich pure magic deposits as the lake is home to intensely magical beings. These deposits are not exploited due to the law that prohibits it - Koboldian Declaration of Environmental Protection, 4017. It is also home to many Tipiroxi, a squid like creature that excretes ink that is very valuable. They are farm as when happy they secrete this substance which the anglers then collect from the lake.
