Almiposa

Basic Information

Anatomy

Almiposas are humanoid insects with chitinous bodies, moth-like antennae, four arms ending in three-fingered claws, and colorful butterfly wings. An Almiposa has the same face they did when they were human, but with four compound eyes.

Abilities

Every Almiposa can use magic, even those who weren't able to before. Any superpowers or other unusual abilities that an Almiposa had while they were a human carry over as well.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lacks sexual organs; to create an Almiposa, one needs to take a human soul and place it inside of the cocoon of the Almiposa Butterfly. The cocoon will then grow and develop into an Almiposa. *

Dark Almiposas

If said human soul has been corrupted by the Void in any way, then the Almiposa that grows from it will have several defects when forming. These mutated Almiopsas are called Dark Almiposas.

Dark Almiposa traits include:

• Gray Skin: The clearest sign of a Dark Almiposa is their gray skin. Their hair and eyes can still be any color of the rainbow, however.
• Missing Limbs: It is common for one or more of a Dark Almiposa's appendages to fall off when emerging. They can be missing their wings, arms, legs, or even part of their head.
• Loss of Telepathy: Dark Almiposas cannot communicate with other Almiposas telepathically.
• Memory Loss: Dark Almiposas have no memory of who they were when they were human.

Ecology and Habitats

Most Almiposas live on Minerva 14-f, in the city of Almiopolis, but they are a remarkably resilient species and can survive in almost any environment.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The majority of Almiposas are members of The Great Kaleidoscope since it is the primary creator of Almiposas in the multiverse. Those not in the Kaleidoscope tend to be solitary nomads, but small social groups can form.

Awakened Almiposas

There is a powerful and complex enchantment that can make an Almiposa revert back to their human form. The Eclipse uses it on Almiposas who are escaping from The Great Kaleidoscope. However, this enchantment is flawed: With enough concentration and willpower, a "resigned" Almiposa can return to their Almiposan form for a short time, gaining their superhuman abilities once again. Resigned Almiposas who have unlocked this ability are called Awakened Almiposas.

All Almiposas are able to communicate with each other telepathically.

Naming Traditions

Almiposas, by tradition, adopt a math-based alias, such as Ellipse or Parabola. It is considered rude to ask an Almiposa's true name.

*Not every human becomes an Almiposa after death. Another Almiposa has to physically place the soul inside a cocoon, and there aren't as many Almiposas as dead people in the multiverse.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Skin and eyes can be any color of the rainbow; usually, their hair is a darker shade of their skin, but there is a mutation that causes the Almiposa's hair and eyes to be a silvery white.
