Two Letters to Dr. Sanguis
Feb. 1, 1904
Dear Doctor - I finally did what you asked in spite of my dear friends attempts to discourage me from the action - I spoke to my parents.
There is no need to recall the event. They have not forgiven me.

Edvard -
I write this in haste aboard a train bound for a ship that is destined for the New World. I have just left Milan during the Great Expo. Again I attempted a reconciliation with my parents but now have lost that chance forever.
I learned my parents were in the city and called at our Villa.
My stomach turns when I think on it.... The horrid tableau was grotesque.
It was a massacre.
I no longer feel safe on the continent since my family was murdered for what we are. When you receive this I will be adrift on the Atlantic.
Be well! Good luck with your research.
This will be my last letter.
