Pactomon

Pactomon is a card game that is themed around the Pact Quest, a journey that many Mixolysians undertake when they form a pact with a Pactone. Of course, not everyone has the ability to go on the region-spanning quest, so for some, Pactomon will have to do.

Decks

Each Pactomon deck is comprised of 60 cards. Players are encouraged to build their decks in a way that suits their strategies. While pre-packaged decks may not come with all types of cards, there are a few popular deck types that do include one of every type. The types of cards are as follows:   Pactone Cards. These are the linchpin of the game, naturally. Each card represents a Pactone that a player summons, and will outline the abilities, element, and elemental cost for attacks of the listed Pactone.   Element Cards. These are the most important cards aside from Pactone cards. They need to be "attached" to a Pactone card to allow that Pactone to attack in the game. They are divided according to the elements of Pactones in the world, and generally a Pactone needs cards of its own element to attack.   Pactmaster Cards. These cards represent people and items that can aid the player in the match with various effects. Some cards are more general in their representation of people and items, but certain notable Pactmasters (or indeed, some notable people in general) have official Pactomon cards that can become quite sought after, both as collectibles and for their in-game function. For example, Sal Turran's Pactomon card is considered a big ticket item in certain circles.

Gameplay

At the beginning of the game, each player draws cards to represent summoning Pactones and gathering items. A coin flip determines who goes first. To begin the player's phase, the player attaches element cards to their played Pactone and uses Pactmaster cards. They end their turn by either attacking the other player's Pactone or by doing nothing. The cycle continues until one player's Pactone loses all its hit points, at which point the player claims a prize card set aside earlier. When all of a player's prizes are claimed, the player wins.

Relation to the Pact Quest

Pactomon in particular is intended to relate to the Pactone Duels held throughout the Pact Quest. Just like in the game, Pactmasters summon Pactones, use items, and engage in friendly-spirited duels for prize money and to train their Pactones. Of course, the game lacks the personal development and Pactone bonding aspects, leaving some people who have actually done the Pact Quest for their region to claim that the game leaves them feeling a bit hollow.
