Lelinahdara
Lelinahdara (a.k.a. Tarra)
Lelinahdara (AKA Tarra of House Lelinh)
(Leh-lee'-nah-dah'-rah) , is a Davrin Elf born of the Third House Lelinh, in Sivaraus. Her given name is Tarra, and she is a third-born Daughter whose ambitions and accomplishments have quickly raised visibility for her House in her relatively short lifetime. Both a skilled sorceress and an ordained Priestess with her own Sathoet Son, she has shed her Noble title at birth, Lelinhsareci, and leaped over her eldest sister, claiming the "Matron's favored" title of Lelinahdara. The Third House uses one of the rarer, additional suffixes for the First Daughter, -reh, meaning "to rule."Tarra is a classic Davrin beauty with one extremely memorable trait: she was born with green eyes, a rare curiosity which in current times would be attributed to the beauty-enhancing magic of the Royal Consorts. This Third Daughter, however, was born a half century before the first Consorts were introduced to Sivaraus, sired by the premium First Son of the Second House, Tachna. Despite witnesses to the conception and a meticulously kept pedigree between the two Houses, not even her Matron knows where the color came from.
Instead of allowing this abnormality to define her as a less important Daughter kept on the fringe of politics, Tarra has taken broad action to encourage the idea that this singular trait indicated she was meant for great things.
Background
Tarra's mage talent appeared young and strong. By then, her siblings already agreed that she was the most disruptive and conniving of the lot. The Third Daughter not only spied on the many high profile guests coming and going from the top-tier House but took opportunities to slip closer to older, female Nobles and tutors who enjoyed a clever apprentice who also teased them with intimate games. Such play always and inevitably involved discussing subjects and secrets without the knowledge or approval of her Matron.Tarra evaded harsher punishments by her Mother for this arrogance by obtaining recommendations for advanced arcane education beyond her age and calls for leniency from well-chosen allies among the Nobility. Speculation about exactly how eager and attentive the youth had been under these "twisted, old indulgers" abounded among servant and sibling alike.
First Daughter Velneya convinced her Matron to send Tarra to the Palace for additional learning, with "more bua tutors for balance," and Vurrya agreed. For the first half-turn, Tarra loathed the change in her life, now cut off from her regular, rewarding visitors and "held back" by males who didn't know as much as she did already.
Soon enough, she learned how close the Sanctuary and its curiosities were to the Palace and began looking for opportunities to slip closer to these even more powerful mages of Sivaraus.
Current
Ordinarily, the Sanctuary chooses from Noble applicants putting their Daughters forward for trial and consideration to become an acolyte of the Priesthood. Having made a name for herself as an ambitious arcane scholar and without her Matron recommending that she be tested, Tarra was nearly overlooked as having any potential for the divine worship of Braqth. The discovery came out of the first time Tarra's overconfidence got her seriously in over her head. Using her previous seduction methods which had worked on comfortable, bored Nobles barely more than glorified merchants and administrators, Tarra would discover the Priestesses to be far more inventive and creative in playing games of This-For-That. This proved especially true when one uncovered that Tarra spurned "real" cocks except in the rare case she wished to please an elder female badly enough and was unable to worm away from parting legs for a bua.
For five spans, the Third Daughter of Lelinh was but a plaything for several Priestesses, bound to the altar of amusement which frequently involved the rut-thirsty Grandsons of Braqth. She was pushed past that line the Nobles would have considered excessive if they'd known; that she was a notable mage in the Palace was the only reason she was neither killed nor maimed.
Then one endless moment turned suddenly to another when the Elder Sorceress D'Shea quietly interrupted a draining ritual. Something went wrong, and a backlash struck the four Priestesses rather than their green-eyed scholar, giving each headache enough to retreat to her quarters.
"Not unusual," said the Sorceress, helping Tarra to wipe down and dress. "It happens sometimes. Especially when a Daughter of Braqth becomes overconfident in her ability to control the divine."
The young Noble narrowed her eyes at the arcane caster in a striking red uniform. "Did you do it?"
Her mouth twitched. "Do what?"
For only one span, Tarra's attention had changed from the Sanctuary to the Sisterhood, and she started over in her research on this reclusive terrorist group working for the Queen. Despite the Red Sisters not being goddess mages, some whispered it was even riskier to draw their attention. Many speculated or claimed the Valsharess placed fewer restrictions on their conduct.
After what I've been through, that is worrisome to imagine.
Tarra waited for the Red Sister to reappear rather than prodding, to offer a hint why she'd been chosen for that attention. Perhaps she might have met her again, had the Conceiver Wilsira not appeared first to extend an invitation to Tarra.
"The High Priestess of the Sanctuary has decided you are worthy of our trials," she declared. "We believe we see potential for a new role in our service, one best suited to a cait fearless in walking the edge between the powers of Sivaraus. Come with me."
