Idols of Influence

A Change of Mind... By Force.

How It Works

These items can take on any form from furniture in the house to carrying a pen or rock in a pocket. These items must have meaning to the carrier, perhaps even sentimental value. Value, the driving force of influence is key in order for this magically imbued item to waft its sway; and eventually hold the owner of its idealistic impact. The impact could be anything to grasp the owner to do a certain thing or develop a strong belief. Some could even say it is done by illusion magic.

The Creator

The idea came to a man who held great power in a region, but when he didn't get his way he gave shape and form to the idea he envisioned and wanted to gain from people. He then distributed these strange objects to merchants and sold them to kin-souls of all kinds as test subjects. Eventually he found the greatest key to all his scheming ways was to make something of value and impart his vision into them.

Purpose

As all things take time to grow, so does an idea. The purpose is to force an idea onto someone every day until they themselves begin to believe in the idea, or think they do. Many have agreed that this is a form of brainwashing and has become banned in many areas in Miria.

Work Around

Though these Idols of Influence are considered banned, they can still be found. They cannot be sold as they used to in the past, but the law does not say they cannot be given away as gifts. In the present day those who are wary of such items have learned to ward themselves away from them or its influence completely. Unfortunately, many others think of this as an old Dark Eld Tale.
