Genasi

In the histories of the older races it is known that the genasi were created by the four elemental gods oror, god of the earth, rielah, lord of fire, nelote, goddess of air,and arah, goddess of water. These new beings were meant to be the new scions of the gods to replace the mistake that the race called the vrynn had become. When they set foot upon the soil of theros they were commanded to go forth into the world and multiply. During the time of the divine war the gods called upon their children with the promise that the genasi would be the heirs to the world and would pave the way for a future where humans, elves, dwarves, and other races had been wiped out and replaced by the superior genasi race. As both gods and goddesses began being sealed by the elder gods so too were the genasi given forms of flesh and blood that bore the mark of their elemental heritage. As the age of the gods came to an end they fled their towns and cities they once called home and settled into the land that would become Qirat.   Fearing the retribution of the other races they sealed the mountain passages into the lands and dammed the rivers to provide water for a vast network of aqueducts through their lands. It was only upon the return of the land of Amphryn did they become a part of the land again, but some still remember the jealousy of the gods, and some remember the deeds the Genasi committed on their behalf.   Regions: Unlike the other races the Genasi never had a particular homeland. Now many call the land of Qirat home. Few have ventured out to other lands as diplomats and have settled in Namine, and Kasr.     HEIRS TO ELEMENTAL POWER   They resemble humans but have an unusual skin color (red, green, blue, or gray} and there is something odd about them. The elemental blood flowing through their veins manifests differently in each genasi, often as magical power. Seen in silhouette, a genasi can usually pass for human. Those of earth or water descent tend to be heavier, while those of air or fire tend to be lighter. A given genasi might have some features reminiscent of many other humanoid races (the pointed ears of an elf, stockier frame and thick hair like a dwarf, exceedingly large eyes from a gnome, and so on} but that would be where the similarities end.     WILD AND CONFIDENT   Genasi rarely lacks confidence, seeing themselves as equal to almost any challenge in their path. This certainty might manifest as graceful self-assurance in one genasi and as arrogance in another. Such self-confidence can sometimes blind genasi to risk, and their great plans often get them and others into trouble. Too much failure can chip away at even a genasi’s sense of self, so they constantly push themselves to improve, honing their talents and perfecting their craft.     Genasi Names   Genasi use the naming conventions of the people among whom they were raised. They might later assume distinctive names to capture their heritage, such as Flame, Ember, Wave, or Onyx.
