The War of Bulls & Stallions - Part 5

Map Location #6.

‘Battle at Bleak Hills’ – Spring arrives early and sweet as springs can sometimes do and the two armies make to meet and end the war for once and all. Ennorren, with Maynor, remnants of Plaffory and Wulsh and Abled Mercenaries from north of Marchrise, are filled with vengeful energy. The Stallion banners fly more confidently. Lamnen Casc is no longer in command having been replaced by Thalen Trabberge. Lamnen’s absence will not be explained until the war’s conclusion, for so able a commander to be replaced and absent, is odd. The Battle of Bleak Hills sees all the original Houses take to the field for one final time. The resulting carnage will see the power of the kingdoms and kings forever reduced to a sidebar in history.     Fighting rages both for what is perceived as honour and for more suspect reasons. That the Heralds, Warlogues, Strategians and Tacticians are present to see what unfolds is important as this carnage is the seed of the idea for a lasting pact to prevent this kind of destructive agency from taking hold of society again.     The battle is short almost abrupt. It ends with the Stallion banners forcing the royal Bull banners from the field. The Trabberge and Cascil led forces, press their advantage. Thalen Trabberge calls on greater powers than any can expect him to. Monsters and Fiends range the battlefield and storm across the rolling grasslands in pursuit of the Ennorren forces. The Bull banners try to reach the fortifications at Ennorren city. Within the Stallions there are some who are confused and shocked at the other-worldly allies that are winning the day in their name. When the leaders of House Molnury and Altra must voice their objections to Thalen, he responds that their objections were expected and he promises them that when the fighting ends their concerns will be resolved so that they will not object at the outcome. He indicates that only one further battle need be fought, to see all this revealed.
