The Houselands: The Two Dukedoms

The gradual evolution of the Five Kingdoms to the map illustrated occurred through four generations, as the five kingdoms inter-married. There were no wars of unification, peace was valued and bonds formed by these close relations were for the most part positive things.     This situation resulted in the kingdoms joining until two Houses remained in complete control of the continent; Duke Satoren of Ennorren in the west and Duke Maix of Trabberge in the east, ruled these two patrimonies.     For sixty years these two Overhouses ruled cooperatively. In this period new family Houses came to exist, to inhabit and control the many new keeps being built. House Yvithoste gave rise to House Wulsh. Yvithoste with House Ennorren also had links to the new House Altra. As well, Ennorren created House Plaffory. With peace in mind, they joined with Trabberge to create House Acery. House Cascil and Maynor inter-married and formed a wedding gift patrimony of House Molnury. The last House formed on nearby islands and moved on to the mainland to claim a patrimony and was called House Tear.     These eleven Houses watched themselves dissolve into bitter turmoil with the death of Duke Satoren, last of the two Overhouses' best leaders. This brought his grandchild to the ducal seat of power. This was Granika Ennorren. He was decidedly a different ruler. His aggression proved divisive across Coaseth. Baronial families chose to turn into themselves and close their keeps to those not of their direct family and in ending the Age, saw it fall into bloody conflict.
