Archbishop

This rank is the highest in the Church of Alfic. They have control over basically all of the comings and goings within the church, from declarations of neutrality in war to the building of new churches.

Qualifications

You must have been a high member of the church(Priest or above) for at least 10 years. This tends to lean toward house Qifir.

Requirements

Must be a devout believer with the ability to communicate with the gods.

Appointment

Is appointed by the previous one right before death or by the current 4 Cardinals during a special ceramony in the Den of the Deities.

Duties

They must be able to make big disisions for the church, ranging from declarations of war(which has yet to happen) to the building of a new church.

Responsibilities

From day-to-day the obligations of the Archbishop changes. One day he may be orcestrating a service and another he may be helping to teach young students divine magery.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The Archbishop wears the robes of Xulotl, the earrings of Toris, and the hood of Qala. The robes of Xulotl are jet-black robes that holds the ability to spread darkness, but also the ability to be able to make someone feel better. The earrings of Toris allow the gift of sight, which some people have inherently, as well as the ability to talk within someone's mind. Finally, the hood of Qala which allows for light to spread, but also has a fairly bad attrabute. The pieces of clothing are said to have be made by Querin, the deity of creation. The current Archbishop doesn't uses these powers very often. He tends to depend on his own magic.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The dismissal of someone is this position take a lot of work because they are supposed chosen by the gods so the only way to depose an Archbishop is by getting permission by the gods.

History

During the Miranian war, the Archbishop of that time declared the Church to be neutral and all throughout the then Kingdom of Alfrind and Kingdom of Shoal churches were deemed safehouses.

Cultural Significance

This rank is only bestowed to the most holy of Alficism believers, so people across Asoin and Alfria think very highly of this rank. To the people of Vindr, this rank has barely any significance culturally, only by means of them having an army.

Creation

The creation of this rank happened in 230 BMW when the first Archbishop got a revelation from the gods. This was first depicted in the book Alficism: A History.
