The Orasmyn Library

The Orasmyn Library was the core premises of Calvard where the Headmaster, Esther Orasmyn, not only grew up but carried on a legacy of her godfather in compiling so much knowledge from worlds untold and unremembered. It was a homely place in the arctic port back then, even maintaining its own gardens in its early days. However, when the Academy was built upon it, the Library was integrated as its centermost chamber; the entire Academy spirals around this locale, and thus it is widely accessible from all aspects of Academy life across campus.   Today, it is where the Headmaster spends majority of her time, though she no longer truly lives within it as she once did when it was an independent building. That role was reserved for another region of the Academy. All students, Masters, and townsfolk are welcome into the Library's hallowed halls.

Design

Upon opening its large mahogany doors, one will be greeted to a broad, expansive hall filled with rows of bookshelves on either side of them. Directly ahead, a stairwell which takes them up to a second and third floor of the chamber. At the forefront of the second floor is where the Library's primary working desk and staff stations can be found for assistance matters.   The left half of the first floor is comprised of novels pertaining exclusively to matters of non-fiction. Subjects which are grounded in reality, typically composing histories and natural laws for study, though sometimes are also just personal accounts of events and factual research. There are no shortage of tables and studies made for both personal and group readings.   The right half of the first floor is comprised of novels pertaining exclusively to matters of fiction. Subjects which are not grounded in reality, and have little to no valid bearing on reality. Usually these are merely tales and stories meant for personal enjoyment or critical thinking in a reader by challenging themes and topics from a fictitious lens. However, often there are works of fiction which are portrayals of non-fictional events yet to be confirmed, typically landing in the realm of mythology.   On the second floor, every bookshelf will be distinct regardless of building side, for they cover the many aspects of racial classifications such as Elementals, Undead, Humanoid, and many more. It is here where many Adventurers up-and-coming will study their intended foes, their culture, their patterns, their histories, and everything that could be scrounged up regarding their capabilities and natures. Named entities of these types, such as a fabled Lich or powerful Demon, may also have their stories and anecdotes stored within. Many of these works were not composed by the Academy faculty themselves, but rather were provided orally by outsiders of their own typification. Thus, they are considered to be very accurate in their research.   The third floor, however, is where there is a very niche crowd of scholars at all times. It is here where the entire section is chartered off to understanding Magic, Miracles, Planescapes and of course, the famous Mirrors of Miralh. The supernatural, in philosophy and metaphysics, is studied in such extent here that all sections are organized in very minute alphabetical order; with so many overlapping and vague topics it may be difficult to find a novel of research without knowing critical key words or authors to pen them down to. The Headmaster's name, fortunately, is responsible for the vast majority of the novels in this region.

Denizens

The staff of the Orasmyn Library are often considered to be some of the most self-contained embodiments of the supernatural the Academy has ever witnessed. With how much knowledge is stored there, the Headmaster takes quite kindly to inviting spiritual and otherworldly kin to help administer its tomes, provided they are mindful of who claims right to own all of them. It is a public facility within the Academy available to both students, townsfolk and spirits of all kinds.   Those who most often take note, however, are the golems which help administer the Orasmyn Library's 'help staff' for those in need. Often taking the form of very stylized human women but clearly lacking many of the qualities of a true flesh and blood one, these pleasant house servants do not question a request for any given item in the endess archives within. They are each outfitted with limited degrees of magical defenses and are directly connected to the Headmaster, meaning she is never truly unawares of what transpires within her home.   Still, from pixie inventory checkers to secretaries of the artificer type, there is no shortage of uniqueness to be had within.

Special Properties

The Orasmyn Library is an epicenter of its own Mirror in Miralh, as it is from where Esther Orasmyn delivered Calvard into the demiplane. Thus, it is the only place within Calvard where no other Mirror may blur over; coincidentally, this makes the Library one of the safest places as it means nothing, supernatural or natural, can enter without abiding by the carefully designed layers of arcane protections the Headmaster has laid upon its premises.   It is unknown at this time if the Orasmyn Library is intrinsic to Miralh in any way.
