Little is known factually about his early life, in Sutras he was claimed to be a fox in 751 and lived long enough to be a 9 tail fox by 1551. This is disputed for obvious reasonsLater life
In 1576 it is said that Takeshi and Masato fought, after multiple days of fighting they both settled on a truce. Some versions of the story state that Masato had been following Takeshi ever since he was born, in the 'Tale of the Watermelon warrior' it is stated that Masato was the one who implanted the watermelon with a piece of himself after feeling bad for the childless couple. None have been proven factually and are disputed for obvious reasons, after their fight however Masato chose to become his apprentice and Takeshi would travel and teach Masato over the course of 7 years before the 2 parted ways. It is said that in 1648 that Masato achieved enlightenment by using Takeshi's teachings. He would go onto start the Kitsune sect of buddhism based off the teachings of Takeshi. He would also inherit the 武藤家, Mutō-Ka, Mutō House and live there until in 1652 he disappeared, he was never declared dead and he was never seen again.Legacy
Masato would start the Kitsune school of Buddhism and that would encompass 13% of all Japanese buddhists. They would go onto fulfill a political role as many would see them as the ones who hold the word of Takeshi.
