The Living Sea

Though no mortal saw how, the northern half of the Baltic Sea was blocked off at the Helsingjabotn (Gulf of Bothnia), the halves divided by broken mountains and the bones of giants. It makes a precarious landbridge to the Finns. The northern half of the Baltic Sea – now so full of Jormungand’s writhing young – is called by some the Living Sea. Many of the larger eels are trapped, pinned to the bottom by rock in the same cataclysm that MAGit the sea, and lash out in eternal fury at all in sight. For company, they have only a retinue of Helbuar, blue-black faces peering from between the rock or a rusted sword waving from a blue-black hand on the sea-bottom, their flesh too corrupt even for the fishes to eat.
