Avaldsnes
Avaldsnes is an old seat of power in Norway, the burial site of ancient kings in three great mounds – Storhaug (Great Mound), Gronhaug (Green Mound), and Flagghaugen (Flag Hill). The mounds, never robbed in their long history, for fear or for reverence, were each found neatly split down the middle after Ragnarok with their riches left intact, where they lay undisturbed to this day. Some say the buried kings, grown even mightier in death than in life, were drawn out by a witch-king from the depths of Helheim and fought in service of the giants as draug. Whether they were put to rest or are still roaming the country, none can agree… though rare pilgrims to Avaldsnes Church seldom return home.

In 870, Avaldnes was chosen by King Harald Fairhair of Norway as his main estate.
