Tame-Suns

Utility

The Tame-Suns are used by the vast majority of the Sun Cult as an object of worship, an expression of the sun's majesty and power on the firmament. In a more mundane sense, the tower that holds a city's Tame-Sun is commonly used as a landmark, as they are built so tall that they are easily visible for miles around.
Tame-Suns are also pressed into service as weapons by the elite templars of the Sun Cult, who wield great black-iron mauls with a miniature Tame-Sun caged within its head. The heavy containment apparatus combined with the furious heat of the Tame-Suns makes them highly potent weapons.
Access & Availability
Tame-suns are not a common sight even within the Sun Cult's domain, and they are closely guarded to ensure none leave the control of the Sun Cult.
The larger cities of the Sun Cult keep a single Tame-Sun caged in a tower close to the city center. The capital city of the Sun cult is the only known location to have more than one of these towers.
There are rumors that the most elite and devoted of the Sun Cult's templars wield great black-iron mauls with miniature Tame-Suns contained within the head, but few have even seen their wielders up close, let alone their weapons.
Complexity
The production and containment of a Tame-Sun is a massively complex endeavour, requiring the attention of a team of highly-skilled individuals for weeks at a time. The material components must be sourced from the workshops and laboratories of the Viden League, then shipped under heavy guard across Eira to the Sun Cult's domain, where the necessary rituals can be performed to ignite the Tame-Sun inside its cage.
Discovery
The culmination of decades of research between the high priests of the Sun Cult and the arcane scholars of the Viden League, the Tame-Suns are an earthly manifestation of the Sun Cult's devotion.
Capitalising on the Viden League's ravenous hunger for mystery, the Sun Cult traded ship after ship of goods, riches, reagents, and servants in exchange for a steady stream of academics and their research. By collaborating with the most wise and devout theologians of the Sun Cult, the Viden researchers were able to create conditions in which a miniature sun could be ignited and contained within a specially-crafted cage.
