Ellin Tjena

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Ellin was created as a thesis statement by a radical scholar in an attempt to understand the nature of magic and its relation to life. She was to function as a laboratory assistant and the scholar would observe her behaviour as she interacted with the world around her.

As Ellin grew older, her curiosity drove a desire to leave the laboratory and mingle with the acolytes of the city. Her creator could not allow her true nature to be discovered, so he disguised her in the flowing robes and mask of a Namu scholar.

One day, her creator disappeared from his laboratory, with no note to explain his absence. Ellin was distraught, and immediately ventured out into the world to track him down. She repeated the lessons her creator had taught her: that the greatest joy in the world is to learn, to lend a hand wherever she is able, and at all costs, she must not allow anyone to examine the technomagical core within her.

Education

Ellin has received no formal education, but her time spent assisting her father in his laboratory and reading through his personal library has given her an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of arcane magic, its history, and the investigative methods the Viden scholars apply in their studies.

In her disguise as a Namu scholar, Ellin often found herself eavesdropping on heated conversations between the scholars and representatives of the Sun Cult. Both their theological debates and their negotiations over payments were fascinating to Ellin, and she studiously noted the intricacies of both.
