Craesto Welk Introduction

Year 45 — 18:Th Blue Light

Intro

Secluded. Safe. Protected... Filled with secrets and unknown dangers. That is Craesto Welk: an ancient orblike megastructure that silently spins through the vastness of space. A remnant from a mythical advanced age beyond ordinary human comprehension.

Far from home

How long has it been since we left our old home? Centuries? Millenia? It is only thanks to the great memory of our Goddess that we have not forgotten our origin.   Not many want to think about certain questions, as they fear the answers they might hold. What happened to our home? Why did we leave? And will we ever be able to return? Is that even possible? Only the Goddess and her High Priests might know, but they are not saying anything. And certain people within the Authority wishes to keep our minds distracted from asking the right questions. They always have. But things are changing.

    Magic

"Magic as we know it was once very different. We are not exactly sure why but one popular theory is cause we are so far away from our home of origin. Something about the planet being at a Nexus point of a cosmic enigmatic metaphysical field; if you are the sort of individual who believes in that sort of thing.   What some people are being born with now, is but a faint whisper of what our ancestors feared and respected. Sure, a low percentage of them can conjure more elemental effects, be it flashes of light or wisps of flame.   However, the highest percentage of these ... special individuals are only able to use Telekinesis, or Force Projection, or whatever you want to call it.   The majority of them are not that big of a threat, as they are being controlled and maintained by the Authority. And note that some of them are quite powerful. As in, is-able-to-tearing-someone-apart-on-a-molecular-level powerful.   And then there are the ... Off-Shoots. Those who leave the service of the Authority and go rogue. Most are taken care of in due time. But not all. Somehow, a very small percentage has always managed to evade being caught. Most of them have joined the L.S.C, but - you guessed it - not all.

    Motivation.

Craesto Welk began as a solo challenge: To create a world and see how far you got after a week.

    Inspiration.

I took inspiration from the Halo and Star Wars Franchise. Particularly Halo 4, with the shield world Requiem, and Star Wars 1313, with the City Planet Coruscant.   Other inspirations, for the metropolitans of Craesto Welk, as well as certain landscapes within it, is Blade Runner and The Maze Runner series, among others.

    Ideas.

I liked the idea of a spacefaring megastructure, with several inner layers and claustrophobic corridors, that completely cut off from the outside world of empty space and ruled by an authoritarian government.
What the ones inside knew, was only contained within the megastructure's thick metallic walls.

In regards to ideas of the levels, some of them would be nothing but wast metropolitan cities, while others would be reminiscent of post-apocalyptic cities overtaken by nature.
Maybe even have one or two containing large mountains, or having some being transformed into entire oceans.

I quite like the base idea here of this all taking place within one vast megastructure! Magic has faded, too? Should be an interesting read!
