Patriarch José de Jesús Durán (a.k.a. Chuy)
José de Jesús Durán Flores, better known as Chuy Durán, was the mayor of Arteaga until January 1st, 2018, when his brother, Everardo Durán, also a PRI member, took over the post as mayor.
He is known throughout the community as a cruel, corrupt, greedy and apathetic tyrant. He has been involved in several scandals, among them the theft of water from the landowners and ties with a dangerous drug trafficker nicknamed "the monkey". One of his biggest and most loyal allies is the infamous Melchor "Rat Boy" Destenave.
He lives with his family in a large walled hacienda, fortified and guarded by dozens of mercenaries who act as security guards. This hacienda is located in San Antonio de las Alazanas, but Chuy also owns numerous properties (mansions, country houses, ranches, apartments, and flats) scattered throughout the region and even abroad. His secret lair is in the sewer tunnels in the depths of Arteaga.

On one occasion, Kalamargo Kabeza de Vaca and his cousin, both in a state of drunkenness, broke into Jesús Durán's mansion in Arteaga to beat him unconscious and then brutally rape, all this as a revenge because Chuy had ordered the murder of one of Kalamargo's cousins, Armando Mario Netta. A few days after this attack, Chuy Durán sent hitmen to take care of Kalamargo and his cousin, and the two were found dead in the acequia, with the skull between their legs.
