Redwood

The Redwood is home to humans in touch with nature, animals, the natural order, and other mundane aspects of the natural world. Brash and proud, but understanding in their part of a greater system, Redwoodfolk are stereotypically loud and arrogant to anyone who hasn't proven themselves yet. Living among massive redwood trees, they are masters of nature and know how far they can push things.   Both conservative and environmentalist, they have a longstanding tradition in honoring forest spirits of the mundane realm and honor them as much as they can. The native forest spirits are under constant attack by their sworn enemies from the Feywild. To this effect, the people of the Redwood hold a preference for naturally occurring foragable resources such as wool, leather, and wood, rather than artificially refined metals, yet nevertheless understand the value of Cold Iron against the fairies and employing it liberally.   Worshipping the mundane spirits of the ancient forest, the people of the Redwood trust Methuselah, the tallest tree in the forest and the largest ent in the known world. Sitting inside a nook within Methuselah is the throne of Woodking Ragnar. Ragnar, guarded by a legion of Green Knights. Ragnar is an empathetic and passionate individual, making him a powerful ally and a vicious enemy. The Fey, often acting on whims of whimsy without mortal reasoning, are something the Woodking will never understand, their lack of compassion an insult to all who must suffer their presence. To his enemies he is a tyrant, employing all of the most unsavory tricks in the book besides fire and salt. To his people, he is one who will personally resolve issues and a great judge. To guests, he only asks to respect the land, the spirits, and the people.

Military

Using naturally foraged materials such as cloth and wood, the armies of the Redwood are lightly armored and heavily armed. Striped gambeson, featuring green and any of brown, black, tan, or red, or padded leather jackets are common uniforms. Metal helmets are adorned with decorative elk horns made of fragile wood, to taste. Bows, spears, and mauls are common weapons, using as little iron as possible. When fighting the Feyfolk, which is often, they are willing to use larger iron weapons such as Swords and Axes.   More select and elite units stray away from metal. Donned in blessed wood, the Green Knights are a legion of fighters with the slightest touch of druidic power. These knights prefer axes in honor of the first Green Knight, who according to legend was a headless horseman.

Currency
In ancient times, Redwood held a system of currency featuring polished wood and stone coins. Counterfeiting was a big issue in regards to the wooden coinage, and the stone coins were fragile, so when Platinumhold was founded and began using currency of noble metals, the Redwood adopted them as the main currency. Redwood still produces wooden coins, but sparingly and made from Violet Sequoia, a rare and endangered tree grown only on protected land. People in the military and in other government organizations recieve them to collect up to 100 Gold in iron to fight the Fey, and as such it is a valuable piece of coinage.
