Apias

Geography

The southernmost continent of Meterra, Apias is one of, if not the largest contiguous continent on Meterra, a vast slab of rock and stone thriving with life. The Golden Rift erupts here, streaming across the Sun's Void and descending on the other side of Meterra.

History

Many eons past, the continent was ruled by the Elf Kingdoms, and was a land of relative harmony. This could not last, however and, many centuries ago the elves were felled by The Serpentine Collective, a brutal union of Yuan-Ti, Lizardfolk and dark magics. This collective ruled over the continent thorugh brutally for many centuries, wiping much of the continent's past away in an attempt to make themselves eternal. This eternality, however, was shortlived. This lasted until the Shackle-Breaking, when the Older Order of the Serpentine Collective fell away and the New Dawn crafted for the nations of Apias. The future nations rose up, removing their old masters and taking control of their own destiny. 150 years later, and the continent is a reasonably stable place. The Aegis , the alliance of Bugbears, Halflings, Changelings and Orcs has grown strong and is ever seeking to expand their influence. The Orcs of Ozrag chafe against the Aegis, with a waning economy and strong military, they are looking for any excuse for war. Among the other nations, peace flourishes, The White Wolves dealing with disputes before they become a significant problem. The Wolves themselves are in significant trouble, with recruitment waning and the desire for peace seemingly draining away with it. It seems inevitable that conflict will sweep across Apias soon. There have also been visitors from across the sea, Minotaurs and Shifters from Aij Ulsoron, the Minotaur nation from across the Ever Reaching Expansel, the sea to the west of Apias. Trade has been fruitful and a level of cordial relations have developed. The brutal history of Aij Ulsoron, however, means that peace still more fragile than the peace on Apias itself. The only nation which endeavours to stay out of the domestic conflicts, Rashana, in the south west corner of the continent, is a mystery to much of the rest of the continent, and, while civil, it is rare that those from the other nations are allowed to see its inner workings or why they maintain such strong armies if their purposes are solely peaceful.
