Ruby Dragon

The ruby dragon is a myth about a dragon who was struck down by a mighty hero and cast into Ruby Mountain. They lay there till today trapped inside breathing out fire and molten rocks through out the centuries. His legs and wings ripped off with just his tail, body and head left. He was enraged by this and swore to bring destruction to anyone who dares to tread near him. He inhaled a great deal and like thunder, a loud crash blew as the volcano erupted covering everything in ash and lava.
Depictions of him show him as a two legged dragon with his front legs combined with his wings, sharp red gems lining his body with two sets of large bead like rubies for eyes. The rubies lining on the body is where the mountain got its name from.
The magma spewing from the mountain top carries pieces of the ruby scales with it decorating the land where his destruction took place. For those that visited the top and peered down, they would say a great many large clusters of rubies growing. It is believed these crystals are coving the ruby dragon's body protecting the world from his rageful wrath. The mountain has laid dormant for a great many years, and it's believed that the ruby dragon is slowly growing his body back before he leaves to take his revenge and devastates the land.

Historical Basis

It takes place after the signing of the Treaty of The Flying Baron, in which the last remaining dragons were killed.

It made a shift to depicting dangerous things with rubies, causing a huge increase in the use of rubies for art that depict hard times.
