Prismer

"Unable to feel yet here I grieve my existence" ~Olvia Prismer

Written by Artgalles

The Prismer is a profession of monster hunters that originated from the Shesire Sovereignty during its early establishment. The profession was kept secret, and new practitioners were only recruited when the Sovereignty found that one of the orphans destined to be a Scarlet Legion soldier had exceptional talent, in which case the young recruit was switched over the Prismer profession. These new recruits, who are chosen from among the Ashen people because of their horns protruding from their head making a good conduit point when turned to crystal, undergo rigorous training and transformation. Typically only one horn or a part of it is turned to crystal, but occasionally a primer would emerge with both horns fully crystallized.   The Prismer's primary responsibility is to be elite monster hunters, and their crystal horns serve as a conduit for their innate abilities. The function of the horns is to open a linkage to the cerebellum of the brain allowing the use of arcane abilities, a practise outlawed by all across the known world.   In the past, the Prismer played a vital role in society due to their specialized abilities and the rise of beasts during the aftermath of the Pact of Flame where the land was scorched.  However, in the present, the profession has become dismissed as Sovereignty after the backlash of the truth of the profession. This worked best for the new rulership of the sovereignty which focused on hiring cheaper mercenaries who do not require extensive training and funding. The last few prismers who still followed their profession turned to becoming Mercenaries or if possible Witchfinders.
