Hlanorheld

Past

Hlanorheld, is an ancient city that has been present since before the recording of time. Its original name has been lost, but what is known is it was founded by the Chinderin. Driven by dark occult practices, the Chinderin crafted the city as a centre for alchemy, evident by the immense amount of old alchemy equipment found within its deep halls. Their arcane arts led to the creation of an intricate network of underground tunnels stocked with strange herbs and tinctures, obtained through the bleeding of the land for its natural resources. Their practices contrasted sharply with the harmony of nature, for they delved into the esoteric, seeking power from the shadows. Their rituals and enigmatic pursuits left a mark on Hlanorheld's foundations, where remnants of their arcane past can still be found in the city's northern castle and sacred catacombs.

Mirran

In the wake of the first great purge of witches, the original name and the secrets of the alchemical tunnels were lost. The city found itself under new stewardship, where the Mirran embraced their coexistence with nature, allowing the forest to reclaim parts of Hlanorheld, and giving it the name Hlangforahvheld, translating from their tongue of Merani to "Snake Forest City", but over the years some of the letters fell out and shortened to Hlanorheld.   Surrounded by the lush embrace of the Pachur Forah a paperbark forest, that was recognized as a sacred hunting ground of Lurnt, a spirit the mirran worshipped.

Ashen

After the Pact of Flame that scorched the whole region, the cities walls were rebuilt out of stone to withhold the outside world as they slowly drifted from their cultural routes of nature worship. This left the city to only hold a handful of trees, with the only one surviving the disaster to become hollowed out and turned into an inn.
