Mycelium roots resembling tendrils with a thick dull pink skin used for insulation. Surrounding a spongy white interior.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Cold to the touch, good for insulating against the heat of the desert.

Harvested beneath the Salt Spires.

Origin & Source

Cut from the Brine Mycelium network.

Life & Expiration

It will begin to rot if taken out of the salt filled desert climate, the immense heat during the day and cold nights mixed with the high salt levels in the air regulate it from going off.

History & Usage

Discovery

By travellers who were starved and lost their transportation, leading them to harvest mushrooms that revealed the thick mycelium network which they promptly cut to fabricate a temporary shelter. Upon their rescue this knowledge was documented and shared.

Everyday use

It's most commonly used in construction of desert igloos for its low cost of harvesting, and malleable state. Additional if rations are low it can be consumed, although the taste is quite unpleasant.

Cultural Significance and Usage

It's very important to the Salian for their dependancy on it for shelter.

Refinement

Refinement is only required if for consumption as it has to be boiled to allow it to be safely consumed.

Manufacturing & Products

Igloo, sponges, drains and Fungi cake.

Byproducts & Sideproducts

Upon boiling it excreted a thick amount of oil which can be harvested slowly to gain lantern oil, in addition it can be used as a poison for small critters.

Trade & Market

Sold amongst the commoners in the Salt Spires with the oils being sold further by the Salt Trading Company.
