Aevolacor (/ˌeɪvəˈlækɔr/)
Aevolacor is a vast and diverse continent located in the heart of the First World. Bordered by the chilling waters of the Frostjewel Crown to the north and Leviatharis to the south, it stands as a majestic landmass with varying terrains and climates. To its west lies the deep expanse of Drakomar, while its eastern frontier is defined by the Sundering Sea, a vast body of water that not only separates Aevolacor from its twin continent, Lesefaron, but also serves as a reminder of past cataclysms. Dominated by the impressive Granite Spine mountain chain in the north, Aevolacor's landscape unfolds with a blend of flatlands, forests, and valleys.
History
The history of Aevolacor is one marked by grand epochs, tumultuous wars, and transformative events. In the distant past, it was part of a continuous landmass, connected with its twin continent, Lesefaron. During this time, the First World was home to the Monster Kingdoms, powerful and fearsome entities that ruled vast territories. The Age of Mortals saw a gradual decline in their influence, particularly during the Thousand Holy Wars, a series of conflicts that drastically reshaped the political and cultural landscape of the continent. One of the most significant historical turning points for Aevolacor was the rise of the Sarentek Confederation. This powerful and quasi-hegemonic political entity came to dominate much of the continent, becoming the de facto ruler. Its growth and influence were met with resistance, particularly from its bitter rival, the Volion Lesethocracy in Lesefaron. This rivalry culminated in the War of the Mirror, a colossal conflict that reverberated across both continents. The War of the Mirror led to the casting of the Spell of Sundering. This magical event caused a catastrophic separation between Aevolacor and Lesefaron, creating the Sundering Sea and isolating Aevolacor from the rest of the First World. This event, known as the Terminal Catastrophe, disrupted the balance of power on the continent, leading to the collapse of many great nations, including the Sarentek Confederation itself. In the aftermath of the The Terminal Catastrophe, Aevolacor found itself heavily fragmented, with new powers emerging and replacing the former great nations that preceded the disaster. The Monster Kingdoms experienced a meteoric resurgence, regaining influence and power. The trade hub of Soladurn also grew in significance, becoming the economic heart of Aevolacor, and the continent as a whole had to adapt and turn to internal trade to survive.
