Whitecloaks

When the Khesal family ascended to the throne, the Blaunorth Academy Of Wizardry was dismantled, and a new magic society was created to support magic practitioners in the country, called “the Annareg Academy of Sorcery”. It is rumored that the old documents from the Blaunorth are kept in a secret vault deep below the Academy, in order to keep them away from prying eyes. The people of the Blaunorth, was in the great amount hunted down, and executed in the days after end of the civil war, however not all where found. During the generations that followed these devout believers that wanted a world where magic is limited, and in all cases control to an extreme level, hid from persecution and passed their beliefs on to their children, so that it was never forgotten. 100 years after the end of the civil war most of these people had left the kingdom and slowly formed the free city of Pearlreach, just north of the kingdom. Over the years the beliefs of the Blaunorth manifested into the governing body of Pearlreach. The stories of the old times, and ironically the stories of the first magic users in the kingdom, that Pelor had granted their farmland a special Bon fueled the pillars of this organization. About 50 years ago the organization took real form and was branded under the name The White Cloaks. Based in their mythology they believe their goals to be pure, and thus wear all white armor, the only distinguishing feature between them is the armor on the left arm that is of varying metallic colors symbolizing the rank of the individual soldiers. Each soldier wears the cloak of the order, which is pure white with fine embroidery along the edges in silver, and in the center of the cloak a magnificently embroidered symbol of the sun to honor Pelor.   Over the next 40 to 45 years the Whitecloaks converted Pearlhaven to a city with no magic, except the magic allowed by the whitecloaks. All who defy them are judged by the council of elders, and if found to be a servant of evil the person is either sent to the slave camps, but if they are judged to be too far gone to bring back to the light, they are executed. In the beginning the favored method of execution was binding to a stake on outside the harbor and left to die of dehydration offering the heretics to the sun. However for some reason the sun's energy was often diminished when a person was sentenced to death, only a few times the sun hammered the person. it actually happened from time to time, that the condemned escaped from the stakes. So in more reason years they have moved towards decapitation, and bonfires, for the worst heretics.   The few people that managed to survive the stakes slowly made their way towards the Khesal Kingdom, and stories of this religious cult made its way towards the kingdom. In keeping with the law of the land the Whitecloaks are not banned from the lands, however they are warned by the king that practice of their own laws inside the kingdom will not be tolerated, and all who do this will be persecuted to the extent of the law of the kingdom.   As of 5 years before the birth of Elsa the whitecloaks have spread slowly into the kingdom, and are preaching abstention from magic as this is the root of all evil. Claiming that the Kingdom is using old scrolls from past times to create magic monsters far below the city of Evermore, and twisting the mind of all people in the kingdom, to disregard the horrible thing they do with magic.
