Kossuth

Lord of Flames

Kossuth is the god of elemental fire, the purifying flame and the undying pyre. He is primarily worshipped by smiths, but also has a substantial following amongst mages, warriors and monks. Beyond simple fire, Kossuth's divinity focuses heavily on destruction and renewal. The belief that fire can cleanse any impurity, allowing it to rise up from the ashes stronger and better than before. He cares little for mortals and even less for mortal concepts of morality, and his followers come from all walks of life, often separated by which of their god's portfolio they venerate.
  • Disciples of the Purifying Flame venerate the purifying aspects of fire and heat, both in the forge and the mortal soul. They focus more towards personal development rather than any societal view.
  • Disciples of the Black Flame venerate the destructive aspects of flame. They embrace anger and rage as fuel for power and believe in the necessity of destruction for renewal. Some of these disciples consider undeath a form of rebirth and actively pursue it.
  • Disciples of the Phoenix venerate the cycle of rebirth that flame brings. They mainly consider fire a positive force bringing warmth and life, only becoming dangerous when handled improperly.
The priesthood of Kossuth is strongly hierarchical and mostly impersonal. Adherents to Kossuth are cremated upon death. The largest temple to Kossuth is the Flaming Brazier, in the city of Eltabbar in Thay.
