Lady Firemane

Áine is the goddess of beauty, love and passion, with associations also with summer, wealth and sovereignty. Áine's clerics seek to bring beauty to the world in many forms, all of which are pleasing to the senses. They create great works of art, become patrons for promising actors, and import exotic luxuries like satin and fine wines. Her followers also enjoy looking beautiful, and hearing tales of romance. The stories range from star-crossed love, true love overcoming all else, or simply following one's heart to achieve one's dreams. Áine is represented as a beautiful red-haired woman or a red mare with a fiery mane. Áine's largest temple is in Farawey, the capital of Arvaine. In a notable story about the goddess, she was courted by an archfey king. Though his advances were spurred, the king would not take no for an answer and forced himself on her. The assault ended with Áine biting off the king's ear. By fey custom, only an "unblemished" person can rule, thus by maiming him this way, Áine rendered him unfit to be king. The resulting story led to her becoming an embodiment of sovereignty, with which she can both grant and remove the power to rule.
