Gnomes

Gnomes are a smaller, slimmer cousin to dwarves. Gnomes very rarely top three and a half feet, and average weight is between 75 and 100 lbs. There are two recognized types of gnomes on Meaghana: rock gnomes, and tinker gnomes. These types of gnomes are not different subraces, such as the elves have, but their difference stemmed from ideology. The rock gnomes have always embraced gem working and the use of illusionary magics. In the time before Glug's War, a group of rock gnomes began to advance their technology and worship Brilla as the god of innovation and invention. These gnomes began calling themselves tinker gnomes and create wonderful and dangerous devices. When Glug began to destroy the gnomes, the groups of gnomes decided to solve the problem differently. The rock gnomes decided to solve the problem by seeking sanctuary in the dwarven under cities. The tinker gnomes however, built large metal steam powered ships and left Lerias. The ships soon crashed on the islands to the southeast of Lerias, now known as Gnome Island. Over the next centuries the tinker gnomes began returning to the main land of Lerias, but it wasn't until the coming of Benillin Nimblefingers, a priest of Brilla that the Gnomish Homeland was restored. This homeland lasted until the Great War when the Gnome Protectorates emptied and the follower of Brilla led them against Hosia and the forces of law.
  Svirfneblin
The Svirfneblin are a race similar to gnomes in many respects, and in fact claim the moniker: Deep Gnomes. Deep gnomes resemble rock gnomes in many ways except the are completely bald, and their noses tend to be thin and sharp rather than the large rounded noses common in the rock gnomes. Deep gnomes have dark beedy eyes that provide them with darkvision. It is uncertain as to whether deep gnomes are an actual subrace of the gnomish people, but common tales hold them to be gnomes that fled Glug's War through their underground tunnels and decided to remain underground rather than join with the dwarves as most of the rock gnomes did
