Beauty Ideals
Spots like those found on the Cold/Rock People are viewed as unseemly and largely considered a defect. Among the desert sand people, a child born with spots is really a ghostling. It is said that spirits take the life of a child who died too soon and give it to the body of an unborn child. The marks are from the sand they were buried under, the spots expanded as the child grew in its mother's womb. Almost all Sand people who are born with spots use makeup to cover them.
Common Dress Code
Headdresses are often worn by both men and women. Most women wear everyday circlets adorned with gems or glass. These headpieces become more complex for special events such as festivals and marriage ceremonies and can include shoulder pieces.
