Deg

Located in the center of the Artificial Ocean and built atop the ruins of the ruins of the Dreamers city, a congruence of trading vessels began to stop their routes halfway through the trade and dealt directly with the merchants they met there. Over time, posts were built and then old traders began to retire, setting up ships to the posts and living on their boats. Eventually, a maze-like dockyard formed, full of buildings atop piers and rotating homes and shops of sails below.

'National' Sport

Despite not being a nation, Deg has made a name for itself, not just in trade, but in the development of a wonderfully unique kind of game. Taking the natural surroundings to full advantage, the aquatic game of Tkohjool is played on the open water. More careful contestants of the sport are known to set up drift nets around the field, to prevent having to deal with any fishy intruder, but some people say that it's part of the fun of the game.   Dangerous marine attacks are uncommon, but in the few instances that they do occur, players are well equipped. Each player is given a pair of shoes, enchanted so that they can stand atop the waters surface. If a player has some means to do so themselves, they are allowed to forgo wearing them. Then one to two items are given depending on your role. Rowers are given a paddle, like that of an oar, while scullers are given a paddle with quite less reach, similar to that of a spurtle, but are also given piece of wood similar to that of a tower shield.   Two buoys are set up, roughly 400 feet apart and equipped with a pole with a standing ring. These hoops are the teams goals and the objectives of which to put the ball. The balls are made to be resilient and more importantly, to float.   Players are only allowed to move the ball with their paddles and shields, although at the start of the game before the ball is moved, kicking it is allowed. The unique aspect of the sport is that when players fall down, they enter the water itself and many players take advantage of this by deliberately holding their breaths and playing upside down from within the pool.   A popular play of scullers is to use their paddle and shield and hold the ball underwater as they race for one of the hoops, however rowers can easily counteract this by using the reach of their oars to set the ball loose from their grasp, bringing it to the surface for their play.

Demographics

Most inhabitants are either rich retirees of the trade or their descendants. People of Deg are mostly humans, followed by halflings, orcs, elves, gnomes, undines, sylphs and the rest of the races pattering out as they do. The exact order and number is debatable as Deg is constantly receiving new inhabitants with old ones leaving, but humans are definitely up there.

Government

Originally Deg had no government, but as things grow, problems arise and so Deg set to order in a simple enough way. Deg elects a mayor, chosen from those who want it or say they're going to do things. From there, the mayor does their mayoral duties until enough people in Deg want them gone or the mayor stops wanting to help. You would think that a city run this way would have caused some terrible consequences by now and it has, but nothing that the next mayor couldn't fix.

Defences

While Deg may seem completely defenseless, it's theorized that there isn't a naval battle that the post couldn't win. It has been shown time and time again, that by the wrathful tempests of Ea or by the unprecedented attacks of deep creatures, so long as piece of Deg survives, the rest of it shall be built up again. A popular retiring spot of sailors the world across, Deg has the experience of tested seamen and the tactics of all the oceans navies.

Infrastructure

Deg is a trade center first most, which has allowed an incredible economic boon as it trades with most cities in the whole of Mashngi. It has also been quite a popular fishing yard, allowing for the capture of deep sea fish and at a decreased risk than those offered by fishing trawlers. It's also a some what popular tourist destination strangely enough, with some people saying it's the perfect honey moon destination (it'll certainly be priced like one).

Architecture

A mess of mixed designs littered atop the piers, based on the frameworks of the various homelands of which they were based on, helps to paint the beautiful chaos that is Deg. Below, slum like buildings are constructed, made with the simple purpose of housing people for a few years at most before they move on. Surrounding the harbors are house boats constructed from all over the expanse of Mashngi.
