Mental characteristics

Personal history

While nothing is known of Donfen or the House of Kaft before their arrival in the Togave Desert, the rest of their time in Maruvé is very well documented.

At the age of 20, Donfen led his family, friends and slaves from Tellia via the Great Gaima Tree in 22FA, making them third human family to settle there following the Brocksfürs and the Zarkįns.
Upon arriving in Maruvé, Donfen founded the small city of Ponchardia in the northwestern part of the Togave Desert, initially befriending the neighbouring native tribes. After marrying his childhood sweetheart, a peasant named Ada , they had a son named Ponchus in 53FA. It wasn't until Donfen was suggested by the inhabitants of the Red Mountains to leave for the southern lands which were more fertile that they left in 54FA.
After a year long journey, they found themselves in the middle of an untouched plain and began constructing their new home, which grew to become the city of Kaftria.

Due to the rapid expansion of Kaftria, which was being accelerated by the increased human migration into Maruvé and the relatively advanced architecture of Tellian structures, Donfen began an expansion campaign to the west in 59FA. This expansion eventually reached the King to the East, Brunder Brocksfür who had established his own kingdom, and readied his loyal army who all believed him to be a god incarnate.

Brunder sent his army to destroy the Eastern Eye of Kaftria, an outpost connected to a peaceful town controlled by Donfen's men. This attack would become a hallowed example of pillaging in the Furni religion. The response to this onslaught was the declaration of war by Donfen in 59FA. This war would come to be known as the First Kaftean-Furni War.

During this war, Donfen declared himself to be the King of Kaftria in 63FA. Although the eastern border of the burgeoning Kingdom of Kaftria shifted over the next few years, Kaftria was able to grow in population with greater ease than Brocksden due to Kaftria's central location and Brocksden's location tucked away in the eastern Broggdoor mountain range, making the frontline of the war the only way in or out of Brocksden. Despite this growth in population, no other House had chosen to ally with either side.

This all come to a head in 68FA when, at the Battle of Farfeld, Donfen was killed by Brunder. However, when the Kaftrian forces were sent out after the batttle to retrieve those fallen, Donfen's body was mysteriously missing.

While the prevailing thought is that Brunder took the body as a trophy back to Brocksted, there is an alternate theory which turned into a myth over the years. That is of The Wise Man of Elmbalm. People theorise that the ancient figure of the Yavino forests is in fact Donfen due in part to the Wise Man's name in Yavnish - Deorfindel. The Wise Man's supposed wife is therefore speculated to be Ada Kaft, who vanished into the Yavino forests only two years after her husband's apparent death. Similarly the Yanuvin of the forests also have a name for the Wise Man's wife - Gloridren.
