With the invention of warp travel they are capable of navigating the inner solar system with ease. Getting from one planet to another takes hours rather than months. The amount of ships and personnel in space grows exponentially. Lanes begin to form in high traffic areas of space, which only increases the chance for conflict. Tensions rise once again as the opposing superpowers brush up against one another in their quest for hegemony. For the first time in recorded history nearly 10% of humans live in space. On both sides of the cultural rift, the colonies are equipped with armaments and housing for military craft.
