The Juno - Pallas Incident

Disaster / Destruction

2911CE

Antimatter Explosion

A massive explosion erupts from the Hygeia slipstream conduit, completely destroying the asteroid and its inhabitants. Slip stream technology is considered dangerous but still used. People living in the asteroid colonies are very upset. This is the last joint project between the Eastern and Western factions.

Jets of radiation, debris, and super-heated gas spew from the prototype slip stream conduits before they and their adjacent research stations are completely annihilated by an enormous anti-matter explosion. This was a joint project between the East and West. The incident may have been a product of an unforeseen scientific obstacle, overworked and sloppy researchers, or tension between the two groups of scientists from opposing nations.
