St. Isidore the Incorruptible

St. Isidore the Incorruptible is the patron saint of bookbinders and paper makers for the faithful of Oghma. His uncorrupted corpse lies in the Spine on the Secretary Islands near the city of Inkwell.   Born in Dalaran to middle-class parents, Isidore attended public school and graduated at the top of his class. As a teen, he dreamed of being a cartographer and traveling the world mapping unseen places. Instead, he accepted an invitation to join the Black Monks of the Wise Abby and became a priest of Oghma. His family had owned a small bookshop and dealt with a good number of maps and Isidore had noted the poor quality of paper in Halarahh. He set out to solve the problem diving deeply into chemistry and the demands enchanting placed on the fibers. The young scholar looked to solve the problem of a lack of quality fiber in Halarahh by harvesting the sea. He sailed the coast of looking for interesting types of seaweed. For years he persisted and found only failure. Isidore claimed to have tried 1000s recipes and 100s of varieties. Everything changed when he arrived on the islands of the Storm Tails. Here he discovered the perfect combination of resources: lime and shells to make ink and endless quantity of seaweed that produced an extraordinary paper. He labored for years in his lab perfecting his craft. When it was ready, he presented his findings to the Council of Elders and sought a charter for Inkwell on the distant island.   The project on Inkwell was an unmitigated success and the Council of Elders were pleased. They asked Isidore to increase production and perfect the process. He was given a handful of Monks and the resources to construct a research laboratory on the island. The Order picked a limestone tower in the middle of the harbor for the site. The hired crew made quick work of the job and made a fascinating discovery. The limestone had been worked a cavern had been opened up in the heart of the tower. Inside the cavern was 5'x5' black pool that radiated conjuration magic.   Isidore set aside his work and dove into the origins and purpose of the pool. He traveled to Candle Keep, Waterdeep and Thay seeking answers. In time, he theorized the pool connected to the Astral Sea, but its purpose remained a mystery. After consultation with the Council of Elders, Isidore opened the portal and released a ravenous oblex. The creature overwhelmed Isidore stripping him of his reason and involuntary responses.   In the cavern, that day was Sister Cassandra, who was a member of the Sign, was able to drive the oblex back into the portal. Cassandra cover had been to be Isidore's aide. From this day forward a Knight of the Sign would remain on the island making sure the well remained capped.   St. Isidore's body did not decompose raising the prospect that he had been blessed by Ogmha. A Committee of Canonization was formed, the body studied and a review of his works conducted. During this review, clergy at the Spine reported miracles attributable to Isidore. After five years, the committee concluded that Isidore was worthy of sainthood. The Spine was rededicated in his name.   Each year on 4th day of Tarsakh, St. Isidore is taken by boat to the island and paraded around the village. He is set to rest in the square and a worship service is held. Students are encouraged to pray for his blessing during upcoming exams and workers whisper problems or ideas into his ear.
