Session Twenty-Nine: I Forgot about my Hat!

General Summary

- 14 of Solas -

The Fermata's were early to rise. At the start of the day the house began to be filled with sounds of laughter, yelling, and cooking. Alabaster and Cyrus couldn't sleep in given the noise and were instantly greeted with food and drink.     Cyrus seemed a bit beside himself even this early in the morning. He was worried about the assassins in Alderheart but still wanted to go. Those dancers needed help if they were still alive. Yarrow put a paw on Cyrus's shoulder and put the hat of disguise on his head and hopped away to help his mother with his siblings. Crioth said he would message some people for Kathon asking if anyone had any rubies and letting them know about the crash. When Crioth mentioned St.Ignace Alabaster became worried and asked who he knew. He listed a few names including Sterling, Alabaster's mentor. Yarrow asked how he knew Sterling and he said that she was a wonderfully capable bard but that she refused to sleep with him. Alabaster smiled.     Crioth was over by Mayapple and telling her about the updates from the kids. Mayapple thanked him and walked after Sage trying to get him to eat his food. Yarrow just catching the tail end of the conversation asked his grandfather to repeat himself.
"It's nothing major," Crioth said with a wave, "Dande and Mint are just concerned about the crash. I told them that there was nothing to worry about... except the fey of course. Everything else is trivial." Yarrow nodded and then stopped.   "Oh except we found Oakheart and set him free and he's most likely gunna go awaken Alderheart to be a Treant and he hates the Tenders but I think we fixed that and there are the bandits with their undead troops. But I wouldn't worry about the crash that was all us. We dropped an elemental from the top of the sky." Yarrow droned on inciting a ping of terror in his grandfather.   "O-Oakheart? He's here? Oh..." Crioth breathed in sharply. Yarrow nodded.   "Oh and we found out that there are bunch of people wearing these silver rings with the marking of Kren in them and they all seem to be working together and killing people and they are bad." Yarrow continued. Crioth's eyes widened and he quickly tried to catch himself. Yarrow stopped talking and stared at him. "Whaaaaaat do you know about that grandpa?"
Meanwhile Alabaster was in the corner of the room. He began to cast Sending to Sterling.
"I need rubies can you or the church help? Like...7 of them as soon as humanly possible. Also thank you for having standards ❤"   "Alabaster are you insulting me! I have two star rubies and can get more. The church is in a bit of a panic though. <3"
When he received the message back Alabaster began to panic. Then he heard Sterling again.
"Don't panic but Gesme isn't answering prayers right now and her influence is weaker. Apparently. What do you need rubies for?"   "Dancers are being hunted by assassins. We need to save them. Do you have any idea what's happened to Gesme? How many can you get?"   "You finally learned sending. My little man is growing up. I'll try to get as many as I can. I'm not sure about Gesme, the clerics are working on it."   "I will try to come that way soon, I may have to send a couple of my friends.....Kathon and Crioth if I can't make it."
Alabaster sat in the corner for a decent amount of time with a look of panic spreading across his face.
Crioth looked around and pulled Yarrow to the side a bit. "I don't want to panic your mother. She'll kill me. Those are the rings for the members of the Circle of Kren." Crioth looked back at Mayapple to make sure she was distracted. "They were a group of adventurers back in the day. They were known for going into ruins and finding ancient treasures and also being ruthless and uncompromising. I avoided them at all costs." Yarrow seemed to be listening but again another thought came to his mind.   "Oh, do you have any idea how to retrap fairies. I plan on releasing some from the middle of the woods for the White Stag but I don't think they should be out all of the time." The old Tola's heart and face sank.   "I'm too old for this. Don't release any fairies, okay? Fairies no good. Bad." Yarrow curled his mouth to the side in thought.   "Weeeeell you should look into that becaaaaaause it might happen anyway." Crioth sighed and held his head.   "Fine I'll go to the Avium and see what I can find. For now I have more sending to do so give me a moment." Yarrow smiled and bounced away to get his friends.
Yarrow gathered his friends and they talked of what to do next. They decided to make their way to Alderheart for the final time. Yarrow told his family and they said their goodbyes. Crioth reminded them of the doorway hours and nighttime travel. Then Yarrow cast Conjure Animals bringing two large eagles to the physical plane.
The group boarded the birds and took off. Yarrow began to chat with them and it was Lexund and Artip once more. They began to talk about the scorched grove and the fun they had when Yarrow summoned them.   As they traveled the group saw caravans of people traveling from the south to the north. They were most likely going to Alderheart as well. The group decided not to investigate as they wanted to get to Alderheart as soon as possible. Maneba began to talk with Cyrus about this and that and Yarrow had an idea. He handed them the Staff of Withering, the gnarled wooden staff with a hand at its top reaching to grab any victims, that belonged to Gifu. While it could be useful to him it wasn't something he liked having and it would help Maneba stay alive. They thanked him and took the staff, to which Yarrow said that he wanted to Maneba to have the 'upper hand' should they need it. Maneba smiled and then spent the flying time attuning to the staff.   More time passed and the group noticed a difference in the trees. Yarrow got excited and cast Locate Animals or Plants. Getting an indication that it was Oakheart Yarrow switched course and the group went over the trees.   They flew above and the trees began to rumble. The treeline fell back as Oakheart stood up straight at the sudden aerial intrusion. As they stood the foliage on his back and head drifted behind them and Oakheart towered above the neighboring trees. Oakheart opened his eyes and held out his hands which Artip and Lexund landed in.
"Hello little ones" Oakheart said slowly in druidic, his deep voice piercing through them. Yarrow perked up a bit. "Hello!" As the group looked around they saw a couple animated trees bringing Oakheart water and moving the soil around him.   "What are you doing?" Yarrow asked confused at the slowness of the treant.   "Recovering." Oakheart groaned. Yarrow looked down and saw a paw, frozen in place by rigor mortis, sticking out from the soil at Oakheart's roots.   "Oakheart are you using dead people as fertilizer?" Yarrow asked concerned as to the treant's intentions. "Did you kill them or did you find them dead?"   "These little ones attacked me as I moved. In defense crushed them. Since they were crushed their blood whetted the soil and I decided to use their bodies to heal." Yarrow nodded at the explanation.   "Okay, I was just checking." Yarrow turned to the party, "it's fine I think he's healing. We should go to Alderheart." The Tola then changed back to Druidic and shouted at the Treant. "Bye! I'm going to summon birds now!"   Yarrow focused himself and cast his spell, this time asking for Gristle to come out specifically. As the spell cast Gristle appeared with another eagle. Yarrow introduced himself, happy with his success, and asked her name.   "My name is Sandra!" She exclaimed. Yarrow smiled and asked Alabaster to play some music for them. Sandra was ecstatic to have music play and began to fly happily as they made their way to Alderheart. Oakheart watched them leave and then crouched back down below the trees and continued to heal.

Yarrow and the party landed in the trees before Alderheart. They grouped themselves and Cyrus changed forms to be a Jerbeen. Yarrow bound up his antlers in cloth and pulled Basalt from his bag and placed them on his hat. Maneba placed the staff of withering in Alabaster's bag of holding and the group made their way into Alderheart.   The tree was massive. Branches spiraling up to the sky and bridges connecting different perches dominated the landscape. The group made their way up one of the roots to an entrance to the bright hollows, the main area of Humblewood. As they approached there were two Perch Guards standing at the entrance to town.   The guards stopped the adventurers and asked them what they were traveling for. Yarrow answered meekly that they were here traveling. The guards asked if they had any information about the crash and the great plume of ash or if they were here for answers. Yarrow began to talk about their exploits talking over the scorched grove and Oakheart and the bandits. The guards began to panic and the one addressing the group handed Yarrow a wooden coin with the symbol of the Perch Guard and told him to visit the Perch Guard at the Boughs up top. The group agreed to talk to them and made their way into Alderheart.   Walking inside the group saw houses and people everywhere. Buildings were built on top of the roots and within the walls of the tree. Folk of all kinds moved to and fro moving food and items, traveling, praying, and going about their business. Light shone through the holes in the walls of the tree and illuminated most of the area as bright white crystals illuminated the rest.   Alabaster stopped a Mapach woman and asked her where the temple of Gesme was in the bright hollows. She pointed him to the northwest of the perch and moved on. They walked for a few minutes and then came to a large courtyard. The courtyard was surrounded by venders, markets, and temples. The Coliseum of Altus had people fighting outside it. The Following of Gaspard were outside their temple helping the folk with matters of daily life. The temple of Ardea stood tall and proud with gold and glittering jewels adorning it. A temple of Cairith was built into the wood of the tree and Cervan were outside talking between each other. A large flat temple of Hanera, much like the one in Brackenmill, stood across one side of the courtyard with its doors open adn food for travelers. The temple of Reya seemed dimmed and empty with no one inside it. Finally over to the west of the courtyard was the temple of Gesme surrounded by people.   All matter of people stood outside the temple. They called and yelled for answers to the current crisis. Approaching the temple the group blended in with the crowd. Amongst them they heard people's panic over the crash and the earthquake. People were scared and they were coming to the clerics of Gesme for answers. Alabaster pushed aside one of the people talking to a cleric and shooed them away. Showing his holy symbol of Gesme he asked what was going on. They had a knowing nod and took him and the group into the temple of Gesme.   There weren't many people inside save for one Strig in the back at the forge. The walls were covered in book cases and shelves. At the back of the temple were two large forges both going. Craft tables and writing tables were abound and it looked like a miniature version of the Cathedral at St. Ignace. The cleric introduced them to Jyotati Firetail, the head cleric of Gesme in Alderheart. Basalt began chittering, spewing insults in his beast tongue that no one could understand.     Alabaster introduces himself to the cleric and Jyotati asks him where he is from. After introductions Alabaster asked what was going on with Gesme and that he had heard that something was wrong with the god. Jyotati informed Alabaster that Gesme was no longer answering prayers and that the powers of insight and knowledge had gone dark. The god was silent and her influence was waning. While Jyotati's powers had no faded yet some of the clerics powers had. Jyotati was hoping that since Alabaster was from St. Ignace that he would know more. Alabaster said no but he had heard from his mentor that something was wrong.   Jyotati said that he would try to discover the source of this trouble and that if Alabaster found anything to let him know. Alabaster agreed and the group left the temple back into the courtyard.
The courtyard was full of people. Cyrus was keeping an eye out for Lumas and people walking in pairs. He wanted to find Lota and Ada as soon as possible. His eyes landed on a mapach woman with goods and wares stacked onto her back. She looked familiar. Then a hard wind blew and as Cyrus moved his head to shield his eyes from the air he saw two Luma walking almost in unison. They were slightly different heights and one was carrying a bag with purple petals and vines hanging out of it.   Cyrus pointed this out to his friends and told them that he would follow them. Yarrow and Alabaster agreed and then sat in the courtyard as backup. Cyrus tipped his hat of disguise and started to follow the Luma as they left the courtyard.   Keeping a good distance Cyrus tailed them as best as he could. He would turn around corners and activate his hat changing his appearance beneath it. After a few minutes the streets were becoming more narrow and the two Luma stopped and whispered to one another. The shorter one hung his head and sighed audibly and the two started making their way back to the courtyard with Cyrus not too far behind.   The Luma walked back to the courtyard and came in view for Alabaster and Yarrow. They looked to be on their way to the Perch Guard. Alabaster made his way to a nearby fruit cart and Yarrow began hopping towards the Perch Guard to intercept them.   On his way to the fruit cart Alabaster cast Detect Thoughts. Then as he pretended to peruse the food in front of him he focused on the taller of the two Luma.
A shapeshifter, a mage, I don't know but we're being followed. What do they want? Will the Perch Guard believe me?
Yarrow got inbetween the Perch Guard and the two Luma and Alabaster saw a portly Mapach entering the courtyard wearing the same hat as Cyrus. He bought a piece of fruit and then went over and grabbed Cyrus.
"They know about you and they are going to report you so lay low for a minute okay?" Alabaster whispered to Cyrus who was frustrated.   "How did they know it was the same person? How did they know it was me?" Alabaster stared at Cyrus and raised an eyebrow.   "Probably the same way I knew." Alabaster said with a little sass in his tone.   "How did you know? ... ... ... the hat, I forgot about my hat" Cyrus put a paw to his face, "The hat doesn't change and they noticed that." Alabaster patted him on the back and they walked to another nearby merchant stall to stay close to Yarrow and the Lumas.   Yarrow started by handing the Perch Guard cookies. The two guards looked him over and one had a sudden realization. "Oh, you are a Tender I take it?" Basalt muttered some bestial insults and Yarrow furred his brow.   "NO!" The guards looked a bit taken by surprise. "Do you know Dan? He's my brother." The guards looked at one another.   "The runner? Yes, he does a lot of running for the Perch Guard. I don't know him well but he's pretty well known among the runners." Yarrow nodded and smiled.   Meanwhile Alabaster moved his detection back to the Lumas.   The taller Luma seemed pretty talkative so he focused on him first.   We can't let him find the garden or the house.   Alabaster quickly focused on the shorter one.   I hate this! Let's just kill him! I hate being here while I have work to do!   Yarrow turned to the two Luma and looked at the taller one's bag. "I smell soil. Are those gardening tools! I love gardening! I'm a farmer! Do you want to talk about farming?" The two Luma looked confused at best. Alabaster focused back on the taller one.   Who the fuck is this Tola... Oh no, antlers, is this Gifu? Oh gods... wait maybe not   The taller Luma smiled and the shorter one piped up, "Why?" Yarrow cocked his head.   "Why do I want to talk about farming? Because I like to meet new people!" The shorter Luma looked frustrated but his voice was shaky, "O-okay but-" Yarrow pointed at the bag of the taller Luma again.   "I know what those flowers are!" The two birdfolk couldn't hide their surprise at that. The taller one smiled again and looked at the Tola inquisitively.   "Do you now?" Yarrow nodded vigorously and then reached into his bag and pulled out a handful of purple flowers. The shorter Luma began to sweat and looked very nervous.   "Well I'll be. Where did you come across those? They're very rare." Yarrow smiled with all of his teeth.   "I got them from Tanca in Ashbarrow." Both Luma now looked a bit panicked. "Do you know Tanca?" Yarrow asked reading their expressions.   Alabaster reinvigorated his spell and focused on the taller one finding his thoughts to be more useful.   Does he know of our lords work? Did he steal those from Tanca? Is her work in Ashbarrow disrupted? Also this Tola got around Gifu and his people and was able to steal from Tanca. He's dangerous.   "No, I'm afraid I don't know Tanca personally but I have heard of her before, she's the leader of the healer's guild to my knowledge." The taller Luma was quite convincing and sincere in his tone but Yarrow had his doubts.   "Yeah, She said I was probably a good gardener! I can help you garden if you want!" The taller Luma smiled and shook his head.   "We are quite alright thank you, but we have been looking for more plants of that kind you have. We would be happy to buy them from you, unless you had other plans for them." The Tola thought for a moment and then an idea seemed to strike him.   "I was going to go to Brackenmill to see Slim. I want to ask him some questions and I want to show him some of the things I've made!" Yarrow bounced as he talked.   Alabaster saw the grimace on the shorter ones face and focused on him.   Slim? Fuck Slim.   "Oh all right, what do you make?" The taller one asked. Yarrow brought out a few potions from his bag.   "Tanca gave me a book and showed me how to make some potions! This one is one I made and it makes you glow!" The Tola's grin was almost infectious.   The taller one was much more useful so Alabaster focused on him alone for a while.   Tanca taught you? Why? This Tola is insane.   "Well in that case," The taller one said, "I know an alchemist in the Underfall of Alderheart named Asshunt. He has a little shop down there and makes strange potions. He may be able to show you some things. His shop has a purple banner and if you follow purple markings down the roots you'll find his shop." Yarrow nodded in excitement.   "Okay! Can I have your names! My mom calls me Hon!" The two Luma looked at the Tola for a minute before answering.   Alabaster focused as his spell ran out.   Asshunt will take care of them. He'll either teach him some things and send him off or kill him. No, not my name. Fuck this rabbit.   "Sure I'm Hildo," the taller one said before nudging the shorter one, "... and I'm... Baldo." Yarrow narrowed his eyes and placed his paws on his hips.   "You're bad at lying Baldo." The shorter Luma placed his head in his talons.   "I'm tired! Leave me alone!" He said in a shaky voice. Hildo placed a hand on the shorter one's shoulder. "Forgive us it has been a long day so far. It was nice to meet you." Yarrow pulled out two cookies and handed it to the birdfolk. Then he smiled and walked away.
Cyrus took off his hat of disguise going back to his native form. He had changed out of his dancer clothes beforehand to not draw attention to himself. The group reformed and Yarrow and Alabaster shared the information they had about the two Lumas. After compiling all their notes the group decided to head to the Boughs in order to see Dan, Yarrow's brother.
There were many ways to transcend the levels of Alderheart. Stairs, bridges, and certain areas meant for gliding. As they ascended they ended up in the Trunk Market, a huge market full of travelers and craftspeople selling their wares and trading goods. Each member of the party was keeping their eyes out for different things.   Alabaster saw two Perch Guards wearing silver rings. Panicked he cast Detect Magic. The whole of the Trunk Market lit up. Focusing his vision however he checked both rings. From what he could see one was magical and one was not. Alabaster pointed out the guards to the group and caught Yarrow using Druidcraft on all the plants they passed. The group decided to try and lay low as to not be seen.
As they ascended to the Boughs they saw a large uneven perch area with large houses and mansions and two more military buildings at the forefront. This area was where many of the politicians and military folk of Alderheart made their home.   Alabaster remebered the notes he got from the assassins. Looking through his bag quickly he pulled out his notes and saw the name of the Mansion in this area that was in the chest. It was the Rudburr Mansion. Alabaster pulled a noblewoman aside and asked her about the mansion. She told him it was in the Branches but to be careful as there was no perch or bridges there and humblefolk sometimes fell.   Yarrow meanwhile made his way to the building of the mail deliverers. It was a large plain building with many entrances and exits. Folk were constantly coming and going from there and no one seemed to pay him much mind. Yarrow tapped his foot and began to speak Tola.   "I'm here to see Dan! Can you let him know?" The instant the message was tapped out the nearest runner tapped it out, and then the next, and the next. Even those that were not Tola tapped out the message. After a few moments a reply came back.   "He's not here. He should be coming back from a mission soon." Yarrow frowned but tapped out a request.   "Tell him its his brother Yarrow. I'm back from Meadowfern and want to say hi!" The nearest deliverer nodded and the message was sent along the way throughout the building. A Perch Guard Tola nearby started running over to Yarrow. He told him that the Perch Guard would have a few questions for them if they just came from Meadowfern.   Yarrow held up the wooden token from the guard on the ground floor and said they'd come back later. The guard pleaded with them and asked them to come now and talk. The group took this as a mild threat and began to back away declaring stranger danger. The guard tried to dissuade their fears and said that the guard was really looking for information to help deal with the mass panic over the earthquake and the crash. Yarrow promised him that they would come talk to the Perch Guard another time and the group head off to the Canopy Market to look for Rubies.
The Canopy Market was the market for nobles, warriors, and practitioners of the Arcane. It wasn't as large as the other perches but was circular and had many well decorated shops, stores, and emporiums. Much more than people selling out of carts this place had large names spelled across their buildings.   As the group approached there were Perch Guard standing in the way. They stopped the group and asked them if they were travelers. When they affirmed this the guards told them about the rules of the canopy. There was to be no magic in the canopy. If they were caught casting magic of any kind, besides healing, they would be banished from the canopy or arrested outright depending. The guards informed the party that the crystals that lit the canopy market were special and they went off if any divination, transmutation, or evocation magics were cast. Items generally didn't trigger them but if they were worried about items on their person they could leave them with the guards.   After the general rules and threats the guard could see apprehension in the party. So, seemingly as a reflex, he started talking about the wonderful shops and craftspeople in town. Agax's Armour, the Copperfeather Smithy, even Flandal Steelskin was here. The group perked up at Flandal's name.   "Flandal has a shop here?!" Alabaster asked. The guard nodded and pointed to the north of the perch.   "Yep, and he's even here right now! All the way from Brackenmill! Isn't that fant-" the guard was cut off as Alabaster ran into the canopy market towards Flandal's shop. They passed by all the shops and ran inbetween people to find the very large shop for Flandal Steelskin, his name written across the top in the Humblewood dialect of the Mapach language and large constructs hulking in front of the door. Behind his shop was a very large building that looked to be a workshop. Alabaster ran straight to the door of the workshop which was surrounded by Perch Guard.
"We want to see Flandal!" Alabaster exclaimed at the guards. Yarrow poked his head out from behind him, "We're friends of his from Brackenmill."   "No, sorry, I'm afraid Flandal isn't seeing anyone right now. He's doing very important work and doesn't want to be disturbed." Alabaster narrowed his eyes and looked at the guards paws. No rings. Alabaster shrugged and started moving towards the door anyway.   "I'll just be a minute, he'll know me!" The Hedge weaved in between the Perch Guard and slammed his fists into the door. "FLANDAL IT'S ME ALABASTER!" The guards quickly pulled him back and held him in place.   "That is not how we do things here!" The guard scolded Alabaster, "Leave this shop now. You are not allowed to see Flandal at the moment and after that you aren't allowed in his shop either. If you break the rules again I will be forced to arrest you. This is a warning." Alabaster glared at the workshop and tried to look through the high windows. Yarrow stepped up and tapped the guard on the shoulder.   "Can you give Flandal a message? Tell him we have some of his works and we want him to look at them." The guards nodded, "Fine, what are your names?"   "That's Al, Serious, and my mom calls me Hon." Yarrow said with a smile. The guard blinked a few times and then waved for the other guards to let Alabaster go.   "If there are any more transgressions I will ban you from the market. You have been warned." Alabaster backed away with the group and shot finger guns at the guard.   "Jokes on you! I don't know what that word means!"
The group went to a different part of the market and discuss things. Alabaster knows that that isn't Flandal in there because he has been sending to Flandal and he was on a boat to Rosalia. Cyrus noted that dimension door was a conjuration spell and that it wouldn't set off the alarms. Yarrow reminded them that doing anything could get them arrested and for now it was fine to move on. The group agreed to table it for now and moved on to find some rubies.   They went to a lapidary near Agax's Armour named Birds of a Feather. Once inside they saw gems in cabinets and on shelves around the small shop. Behind the counter was a Gallus and a Strig both helping customers. Cyrus waited for the Strig to be done and bothered him about if they had star rubies in stock. The Strig pointed him to the Gallus saying that his husband handled magic gems.   The Gallus meanwhile was talking to a well dressed Vulpin who was asking about Opals. Yarrow decided to interfere and distracted the Vulpin with some conversation.   Yarrow tapped the Vulpin on the shoulder holding his beaver, Basalt, still stop his head. Yarrow asked him about the city and why he wanted opals. The Vulpin smiled and told him that he was a researcher and he needed opals for his studies. Yarrow told him that he was studying alchemy and asked if he knew anyone that could help him with brewing more magical potions. The Vulpin thought for a moment and then mentioned Daley who owned a shop in the canopy market.   The gallus noticing his customer being distracted turned to Cyrus. Cyrus talked with him for a few moments about the star rubies before the gallus pulled out a small wooden box and showed three star rubies to him. The gallus told him that the rubies were 1300 gold each. Cyrus frowned and asked if there was anything he could do to trade for them. He cited that where he is from they bartered more often than not and that he was skilled at exploring ruins and tunnels. The Gallus told him that he would talk to his husband and consider it and they could talk in the morning tomorrow.   Yarrow was happy to hear about another alchemist and that asked the Vulpin if he could have his name. The Vulpin stopped for a moment and then said that he was Mr. Harras. Yarrow smiled and told him that his name was Yarrow Fermata. Mr. Harras nodded and noted that he was a Fermata and made a casual reference to the Fermata Farms. The group then left and Mr. Harras went back to talking with the Gallus.   Outside the group questioned how the Vulpin knew of the Fermatas. How did a noble know them? The answer was that they were rich. The Fermatas had a decent amount of wealth and always had an abundance of crops. Cyrus meanwhile wanted to test something and in the corner of the market cast Invisibility on a bug in his paw. The alarms were silent and Cyrus smirked.     It was now getting late and the sun was starting to set.
Back down to the Boughs Yarrow again tapped out asking for Dan. Again the answer was no and that he would return probably tomorrow or the next day. The Perch Guard were waiting however and begged Yarrow to come talk about all the things he was talking about. Yarrow sighed and agreed and the others asked where they could stay. The Tola guard mentioned an inn in the Bright Hollows named the Nymph and Crow that was fun and cheap. Alabaster, Maneba, and Cyrus head down that way while Yarrow went to the Perch Guard barracks to talk.
Yarrow waited in a room with a few other people, taking out dapple to keep him and basalt company. Soon a middle-aged Jerbeen man came into the room and thanked Yarrow for waiting. They traveled to a small room and Gregor started asking Yarrow some questions.   He started by asking Yarrow where they had traveled from. Yarrow replied that they were coming from Meadow fern. Gregor raised a brow confused at the distance. It would take most people a few days travel to get here from Meadowfern. The Tola smiled an said that two friends gave them a ride. The Jerbeen, catching on a bit as to what kind of questions he needed to ask, asked if Yarrow's friends could fly or teleport? YArrow smiled and said that they were giant eagles.   Gregor got a little more specific with his questions. He asked if Yarrow had been attacked by bandits on his way into Alderheart. Yarrow said no but then began talking about the times they were attacked by bandits, about the bandits attacking ashbarrow, about the undead soldiers, about the base in the mountains, and about Brackenmill. Gregor gathered himself and asked if Yarrow was a Tender. Yarrow quickly said no and asked to speak with Baldwin.   Gregor left and quickly came back with Baldwin and a tall Strig woman with cream coloured feathers. She excitedly asked Yarrow if he was Yarrow, then smiled. Looking around she asked where the other heroes of Brackenmill were. Yarrow focused on the Strig's silver ring and asked her to take it off. She looked at him confused and shrugged then removed the ring and put it back on her talon. Yarrow nodded and she told him her name was Lunestra.   Yarrow then began to recap everything that had happened to him. Starting with the bandits and Brackenmill all the way through Ashbarrow, dropping the elemental, and the Circle of Kren. Gregor unable to keep up stopped Yarrow and told him that he needed to see the Bird Council tomorrow. Yarrow frowned and said that he needed to meet his friends. Gregor insisted that Yarrow and his friends stay with him at his house in the Boughs. Lunestra agreed to go to the Nymph and Crow to get the rest of the group. Yarrow told her to tell them that Yarrow and Dapple sent her.
The Nymph and Crow was down in the Bright Hollows back behind the main courtyard. It was full of music, booze, dancing, and prostitutes. They weren't there for too long before the bad music grated on ALabaster and he began playing alongside the bard there to help pick up the music. Cyrus tried to keep a low profile and Maneba, seeing two Tenders in the corner, went over to talk to the druids.   After some time of merriment a tall cream feathered Strig came into the inn. She quickly spotted Alabaster based on his description and approached him. She used their names, introduced herself, and offered ALabaster a cookie from Yarrow and Dapple. She told them what happened and about staying with Gregor up in the Boughs. Maneba debated going with the Tenders to elaborate on what happened but was persuaded to join the group based on Alabaster's request.
Gregor's house was lovely. It was large and well furnished and his four children ran around the house wildly. Gregor's wife showed each person to their room and Gregor told them that they would speak to the council tomorrow about these matters.   Alabaster filled Lunestra in about the silver rings specifically and the Circle of Kren. Then everyone went to their rooms for the night.
