Session Thirty-six: The Haven of Meadowfern

General Summary

- 18 of Solas -

Cyrus ran all night without stopping. As the morning came he collapsed on route to Meadowfern. After getting his rest Yarrow took over and shifted into the White Stag. The Tola carried the party the rest of the way back to his home.   Mayapple and Crioth were waiting for them and Yarrow dropped everyone off into his family home. Flim, still high from earlier, got recognized by the lastnames and they helped him settle. Mayapple hugged Yarrow who shifted back into a Tola.
"Where is Dande?" Mayapple asked Yarrow who looked to the ground. Mayapple shot a look to Crioth who sighed and used sending.   "He's okay. He found someone who he thought would lead him to Yarrow and instead ended up hiding out during the chaos." The two nodded at each other and Mayapple sighed in relief. Crioth cast sending again this time to Alabaster.   "Hey Al pal, how are things? Where are you at? We miss ya' : P"
"I'm not your pal, but i needed to get away... I watched my town die again and it was a bit much. I'm going home."
"Al is doing okay too. Apparently he is going home." After hearing this Lunestra flared up. She asked Crioth to send for her to which he agreed.
"What the fuck is up? I'm not mad you left I'm mad you took part of me! What the fuck! Get back to me!"
"Do you know how to fix it? No? Didn't think so. I plan on coming to see you guys when I know how to undo."
"A part of you?" Crioth looked curious, "What happened?" Lunestra explained what had happened to her and how she was stabbed and her life force was seemingly drawn from her. Crioth nodded and then motioned for her to come with him. "I might be able to fix that actually."   Crioth took Lunestra outside to the backyard. He had various magical symbols and tools and flowers all around. He asked her to sit in a circle and grabbed a hand full of dust from a pouch. After a few minutes a white light glowed around her and Lunestra felt her strength returning. Crioth did the spell two more times and eventually Lunestra felt like her old self. Lunestra excitedly thanked Crioth and went inside to meet the Fermata's in a calmer state.
"Hey I fixed your mistake, also Lunestra says fuck you! She has good taste ; P"
"I didn't make a mistake asshole. Also, absolutely not, not now not ever. I get my taste from Sterling after all."
Back inside the Fermata's were helping the party to rest and recover. Sage and Allium were happily talking with Lota and Ada who were showing them their horrifying shape changing capabilities. The reformed bandits were together chatting. Yarrow was talking with Mayapple and Cyrus was no where to be found. Lunestra went to the kitchen to be alone and found Vera Fermata cleaning. The two began to chat and Lunestra sat down at the table and started writing a letter home to her parents. A lot happened and if anything should happen to her she wanted them to know.   Cyrus was downstairs talking with Kathon.
"Alderheart is on fire but I got Songbird and I got these." He pulled out a hand full of Star Rubies and showed them to her.   "Good," her eyes glimmered, "with these and the ones that Crioth got I have enough to cast the spell enough to make it permanent. I've decided to do the spell here. The Fermata's are wonderful and if anyone deserves to be protected it's them." She looked to Cyrus. "Thank you."   "About the other dancers." He asked obviously distracted. "You said that they broke off one by one while you were running from Kagi?" Kathon nodded. "If I find them and bring them here they'll be safe?" Kathon smiled and nodded again.   "Yes, and if we have enough dancers we can teach them the Lysta Mixixe. With enough of us we can wish for anything. We might perish but we can save our people from oblivion. We can save your family." Kathon hugged Cyrus. "First though we need a haven and this town will be it. I will teach you, Lota, and Ada the dance over the next few days. Then we will begin."
The house was a buzz with people. Eventually though the duties of the day called to the farming family. Lunestra spent time resting and praying to Gaspard for guidance. Cyrus and Songbird learned the forbiddance dance from Kathon. Cooper holed himself off in a small room in the house and turned to his secretive studies and craft. Yarrow went to the kitchen and helped cook while also practicing his new alchemy.
Crioth, after talking with Mayapple, set himself up in the yard. Lunestra and Cyrus watched as Crioth smiled, opened a briefcase, and pulled out a pair of lacey underwear. He inhaled them deeply and winked at the dancers before glyphs and glowing symbols surrounded him. In a flash of light he was gone.
Yarrow and Cooper spent the day and night crafting. While Cyrus learned this new dance and Lunestra helped around the farm, being a farmer herself.

The next day the family gathered in the backyard first thing in the morning. A flash of light beamed in the yard and once it had dissipated there stood Dande and Crioth. Mayapple ran to Dande and hugged him. The Tola went over to Yarrow and looked him over. He smiled and nodded and the two hugged.   Then everyone carried on as they did the day before but now the Fermata's seemed a little more care free.

Kathon felt confident in the dancers and held a family meeting to talk about the spell.   They would create a ward against magical and mundane travel that protects the entirety of Meadowfern as well as 120 feet above and blow the ground. For the Duration, creatures can't Teleport into the area or use Portals, such as those created by the gate spell, to enter the area. The spell proofs the area against Planar Travel, and therefore prevents creatures from accessing the area by way of the Astral Plane, Ethereal Plane, Feywild, Shadowfell, or the Plane Shift spell.   In addition, the spell damages types of creatures and specific creatures that you choose when you cast it. Choose one or more of the following - Celestials, Elementals, fey, Fiends, and Undead. You can also name any creatures specifically. When a chosen creature enters the spell's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, the creature takes 5d10 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice when you cast this spell).   When you cast this spell, you can designate a token. A creature that holds the token as it enters the area takes no damage from the spell.   The spell's area can't overlap with the area of another forbiddance spell. If you cast forbiddance every day for 30 days in the same location, the spell lasts until it is dispelled.   Kathon suggests that they ward specifically against the Fey, Assassins, and those that would harm the Fermata's. Sensing some hesitation she also suggested that they have a token for Petunia, Yarrow, and Crioth so that they don't get harmed by the spell.   Cyrus leaned over to Lunestra and asked if she could tell what type of creature something is as he saw her cast spells like that in Alderheart. She nodded and he handed her his box of worms. She opened it and after smelling them told him that they were not fey but fiends.
Yarrow took the key that he got from the Gallus girl back in Brackenmill and spilt it into three parts. They would use this key as the token and it being split meant that there would be one for each of them.   The family agreed and the dancers began.   The dance was long and complicated. Movements between the dancers were connected and passed over each other and glowing red spirits flew around the farm and then around the town. A soft glow began to eminate from the ground and with a flourish a wave of arcane energy passed from the ritual circle and expanded. As the dancers continued so did the circle until it covered all of Meadowfern, shimmering in the light with magical energy. As they finished the wall of force became invisible and the people of the town looked around to see that nothing perceptively had changed.   After the dance the party talked about what to do next over dinner. They decided to go through their magical items and divide the items amongst the party. Yarrow took the druid staffs; the staff of frost, staff of birdcalls, and staff of flowers. Cooper took the moon crest shield and the gauntlets. Cyrus gave his bark bangle to Kathon and sold the gems he had stolen to Mayapple. She gave him 3200 gp.   The party decided that they would go to the Crest Mountains next to find the bandit hideout and wait out there for the bandits to retreat from the capitol. There they could catch them off guard and end their organization to try and stop a power vaccuum from forming. Cyrus asked Mayapple to hold onto 3000 gp for him and to send 500 gp to Captain Uyncis in Brackenmill. Lunestra asked Mayapple to send 700 gp to her family in Marshview.   After they had decided on their course of action Yarrow summoned the giant eagles Artip and Lexund again. Given their course they would arrive in the mountains late at night. They waived goodbye to the Fermata's and made their way to the mountains.
After several hours the party reached the Crest Mountains. Since it was so late they started to make camp. Lunestra summoned her steed, a giant millipede, to help watch. Yarrow checked for bears and wolves and off in the distance spotted a very very large flying creature. It flew over the mountains in the distance and seemed to roost atop the tallest peak. Yarrow brought out Dapple and cast snare and the party went to sleep.

Yarrow talks to the party about the large flying beast in the mountains and they decide to tread with caution.
"I wonder who will be our next bag friend?" Cyrus said with a smile and they made their way through the mountains.
The trails led them right to the bandit hideout. It was not very well hidden at all. At the opening to the hideout were two guards. Lunestra went up and showed her bandit crest. After successfully deceiving the guards Cyrus and Cooper came by and surprised them, killing them quickly and quietly.   Once inside they started looking around. The first closed door they came across had sounds coming from the other side. The party entered and found a large silver wyrmling sleeping inside a glowing ritual circle on the ground. They acknowledged this and moved on.   While traveling Lunestra started talking more about the bandit captains. They had killed Liamond and presumably Jorn, the leader of the bandits. They had killed Benna and Burga in the capitol fights. That only left Warder and his strange mages and Merridan the Necromancer.   The party continued their way through the hideout. No one was seemingly here still. They found a treasure room, dining halls, sleeping quarters, and training grounds. As they made their way around they found a large room with iron cages, spikes, and tables filled with small metal tools and covered in dried blood. This was a torture chamber it looked like. Behind one of the doors they heard something. Quietly going into the room they saw someone in a cage.     "Who's there?" A shaky voice cried out. Lunestra moved forward quietly. "Who's there?" The Hedge man turned around quickly. Dried blood was on his face and the top half of his face was mutilated and twisted with no eyes to be found.
The party released him and asked him what happened. Apparently he tried to steal from Merridan and was caught. This was his punishment and more to come once she returned from the capitol. They asked him his name, Navin, and placed them in their bag of holding.
Next was a fighting chamber. A large fit filled with spears was below a small fighting arena. Lunestra grew cold at this. What had happened? The bandits weren't nearly so brutal when she was one. Next was a large chamber with tables and chairs. Maps of Alderheart and plans of attack were strewn across the tables. They breezed throught he papers and then talked about what to do. They decided to lay some traps in wait for the captains to return. In order to do tat they traveled back to the torture chamber to see if they could find anything useful.
In the torture chamber they searched through the tools and stumbled across a hidden door. It led to a hallway. Down this hallway they could smell earth and they heard the noises of people casting spells and earth being moved. They weren't alone.
