Maranesi

Maranesi is a lesser known goddess worshiped in secret by the people of Wyrlin . She is a Moon goddess and as such has different demands from her followers based on the phases of the moon. The moon in the sky is seen by worshipers of Maranesi as the physical manifestation of the goddess. While they do not believe that the moon itself is Maranesi, they do see it as part of her. In art she is depicted as a nude, blood red colored woman who has a continuous streams of starry black tears running from her eyes. Followers believe that she is responsible for crying out the night sky which continues to this day.

Mythology & Lore

Feywars Volume one

This volume details a war that occurred between the Fey and the Dragons of the realm. It concludes with the Fey queen going back Astafrid but stops just short of her arriving at the nexus point and saying the keyword to open the door.

“More and more of the queen’s forces united together, bathed in weapons of wood and armor of leaf. The Dread’ fire dared not burn them for this way Feywood. With redwood blades in hand the FairyFolk rushed the monster and plunged their blades into his chest. The wood whispered against his scale, sizzling it like a hot knife carving butter. The beast flailed throwing the army from his back and breast killing many.

While his weapons of flame where unless and scales rendered to little more than paper, he still rose above the lot of them by more than 40 feet. Through his massive tail around, the Dread killed another hundred of the Queen’s forces but she was not threatened. Maranesi stepped down from the heaven’s seat of Astafrid and joined in the battle against the Dread. Her blood red skin glistened as she stepped onto the battlefield encompassing it in darkness. She reached forward with her fey hand and thrusted into the Dread’s chest, passing his heart scale and grasped his still beating soul. With one fierce twist the Dread was defeated at the hands of the FairyQueen and the Fey could live in peace once again.”

Feywars Volume two

The book is mostly a nonsensical reading of a previously unmentioned “Knight of Storms” who crusaded across the lands before dying of heatstroke. It seems out of place given the nature of the last book but in the last few pages the party is able to find what they were looking fo..

“WitH the bEast defeated, the fairyqueeN knew THat it was time to lEave this land and return to astafrid. using the blood of the beast, she painted the MirrOr night star pOiNt by poInt. aS she placed her hand to Fit the Upper haLf the star, a Large dark Gate Open in The heart of the Oak. iT was a portal to astafrid! It was finally time for HEr to Go home and Rest. her wAr was over. Not a Day tOo soon After this she would not have to Kill again. Finally On the day she couLd rest. Little did the fairy queen know the sOon the Winds would once again be changing.
Two nigHts and two Evenings later the fairyqueen and her following were to be make Slaves To the vEry PeopleS thAt the had gone to Battle fOr. They and eVEryone tHat they knew would soon find that It was MOre than just Man’s Iron That they Were to fear. they now fAced a great threat from the dwarveS… SAPHITE!”

Cosmological Views

Followers of Maranesi believe that the universe was created by the tears of cosmic bodies that she is continously crying.

Tenets of Faith

The demands of Maranesi are polarizing and based off if the moon is waxing or waning often leading to many devote appearing to be bipolar. Sometimes they are incredibly lawful to the onlooker and then other times mad. Maranesi is also a goddess who demands blood offerings from her followers. They believe that without these, she will stop the tides and invoke a decade of darkness and with it bring about the end of all humanity.

Waning: This is time of madness, when worshippers feel as though Maranesi is leaving and as such their action will be more extreme to get her attention. This is the madness phase.

Waxing: This is the goddess returning and is the Lawful order phase for getting things ready for the coming madness.

Full Moon: Full Moon worship. No sleep. Sacrifice. Happiness. 1-3 days

No Moon: Depression, Resting, Sleeping.
